Of course the DR cannot match the old-fashioned welcome and general courtesy that a visitor will receive in New York.

From where I am (an hour away by plane), an all in week in NYC would cost me close to 3000 Canadian, and I wouldn't know where to begin trying to laid. At my age, I don't think I'd blend in with the "club scene".
The same all inclusive week in Sosua, (3 1/2 hours away) can be had for 650 Canadian, and all the local cheap pussy you could want, not to mention the sun and the beach.

You are being a little tough on one of our EFL students. The all-inclusives that include hands-on personal care services as well as food and drink do tend to be quite a bit more expensive. It is more practical to get an expensive room and a cheap woman than the other way round.

Air Canada, WestJet, CanJet, SunWing all fly direct from Toronto. Convenient times too. In some cases the package can be cheaper than the air fare alone (WTF?
Which is why I often finish up at the Casa Marina by default, even if I don't intend to stay there much. There was one week I stayed there last year when I didn't have one drink at the hotel although booze is free. That must be a record. But I only drink beer, and their beer always comes in plastic cups. I prefer that icy bottle dressed up like a penguin, so I usually drink off site.
For a little extra I can check in my GF, she loves it and brings in the Charamicos kids on the weekend. They enjoy the pool, buffet restaurant, organized kids games. The GF makes this great deal with reception (cousins), the youngest ones get in for free.
These kids are so polite, appreciative and well behaved, compared to NA kids, I get a real kick out of seeing them have fun. It's been 6 years for some of them and it's interesting watching them grow up.
I have such a good time down there, sometimes I forget what I'm really there for, LOL.

Usually WestJet staying at Casa Marina, he then rents a condo because Casa Marina is such a dump according to him, I've never been there.
