If you took the cab out of the Hyatt, you shoul repert such thing to the manager of the Hotel, to avoid those kind of troubles to other guests.

It is law in Brasil to carry your I'd.

I normally recomend to have in your possession a xerox copy of your passport (leave the original in your hotel safe box) and any kind of I'd with a recent picture, as, for example, your american driver's licesence.

You are entitled to ask police cops to take you the nearest "Delegacia de Estrangeiros " for any reports.

I suppose the cab you took was a " cloned " or stolen and somebody reported it to police! .

That's the reason the cops yelled you out of the cab and surched you and afterwards the checked everything and stripped the car down!

I hope that, after having a good time with the girls, you got safe to your hotel by the Metro and Railway sistem.
