I'm just wondering will anybody be on ground the 1st week of March the 2nd to the 8th. I was planning a trip around that time. I normally roll with my wingman but it's just me this time. I know it's hard to get bored with pussy around but after day 3 I might be warn out. I wanted to venture out a bit beyond Sousa even with my limited Spanish. Any recommendations? I'm not brave enough to rent a car. If anybody knows any events going on around that time inbox me.
This is your fourth trip to Sosua, right? To be honest, you should be way past such questions by now. You should already know that:
(1) There are always mongers around to chat with and, if you get on well, to do things with. Post on here the day before you arrive. If you have paid a subscription here you can communicate by PM.
(2) You are wise not to rent a car if you are not comfortable with doing so, but it is very cheap, easy and safe to visit neighboring towns and villages such as Puerto Plata, Cabarete, Montellano, Gaspar Hernandez, etc. , by public transport. And further afield if you want a whole day out, to Santiago or Rio San Juan. I was doing all that, and more, by my second trip and I was a decrepit old fart on a tight budget and minimal Spanish.
But don't fall into the trap of taking on a Dominican "guide" or using private taxis a lot or they will soon relieve you of most of your holiday cash.
I am guessing you will be better off and achieve more without your wingman. He seems to have been cramping your style.

I'm a believer
Easy. Your daily limit is set by your USA Bank, not the ATM, the ATM controls how much money per transaction you can withdraw. My bank, Schwab, allows me to take $4,000. USD per day, the ATM that I use allows 10,000 pesos per transaction. Yesterday I withdrew 30,000. Pesos in three transactions. Keep in mind that the ATM is charging you a fee for every transaction, this ATM charges 175 pesos so I was charged a total of 525 pesos to withdraw the 30,000 but Schwab reimburses me for ALL ATM fees and does not charge a foreign transaction fee which most USA Banks charge anywhere between 1 and 3 %. Schwab is the best if you travel a lot.
I have had my Charles Schwab account since last April. I've made plenty of 30000 to 36000 peso ATM transactions (10000 or 12000 pesos each transaction). All fees reimbursed at the end of the month. The most I have withdrawn at one time was 4 transactions of 10000 pesos. I've never tested to see what my limit would be with my bank. But I do know the ATM may have a limit in how much a customer can withdraw. Like only 5000 pesos max.
Anybody coming down Super Bowl week, I suggest they bring enough cash to exchange with, and not rely mostly on using an ATM. I'm sure the machines will adjust or be adjusted to limit how much can be withdrawn, due to the heavy volume of users during that time. You don't want to end up short on funds because you relied on getting cash from an ATM.
Also, I used Schwab to make a wire transfer to purchase something in the DR. Schwab allows you to link your other financial institutions to your Schwab account. That way you can transfer funds from those linked accounts into your Schwab account, and use only your Schwab Visa debit card to make withdrawals as needed.
I posted this on a different site putting it up here too.
For my first trip to Dr and mongering in general I had a blast. Unfortunately I had to go solo because my boys flaked but that didn't take anything away. I flew direct from JFK to POP
Weds.
Departure day I had my second free session with Jissel my first Sosua chick was also my last for this trip. Gave her moto money. I packed and took my flight back to the concrete jungle. Sosua was everything you guys said it was. Being a young attractive dude helped with pricing I believe especially with the free sessions. These chicas are hip to websites like this and Facebook they don't want their pics taken I was able to take a few though.
Awe young pimpin your trip report was good but your homework was terrible. You over pay on pussy, walking around with you wallet, hanging with crabs, spend extra on breakfest, I can understand the weed, but dam! Your homework suck. You have a ***** 3000 pesos because you felt sorry. She. They played you like a phuzkin piano. You don't know how to say no. The read that on you and you paid dearly. You say you are young and good looking. Since I been in Sosua I never been quoted over 3000 peso but hey I am average. I am glad the chicas showed you love at the end those were your riders. I no losing your money killed your spirit but you recovered well. More homework please! Why didn't you just ask for help.

Give him a break
The young fella went lone wolf which takes balls. He made mistakes but did not let them stop him from having a great time. . I am sure he learned a great deal, he paid top dollar but was happy with his sessions. He even got a couple of freebies. You can not compare serious mongers with a first time newbie. Part of the fun is learning from your mistakes. Was the weed he smoked any good. I have always been afraid to buy the local product.
Ok fellas, need some advice. Was planning a trip in February, but my #1 spot is booked all month. Yes, I know February is the middle of high season. When this happened in the past, I'd just move my dates around, but I'm pretty locked into some dates this time.
I always planned that if this happened, that my backup spot would be Europa. Only problem is, I don't know how they work. Do they do reservations? Or is better to just walk in? If they do reservations, do they actually honor them?
I know some dudes like E and Grownman who just walk up and grab a room, but I won't be driving. So. Any and all advice is appreciated.
Some of the best times I've had were when I didn't have a room booked and just winged it.
Wherever you are, there's always a room to be had somewhere. You can enlist the help of a local as long as you avoid the pimps and scammers.
Even the fully booked hotels usually have an overflow arrangement with others in the area. They'll be happy to pass along your business to friends.
I've gone through Europe without the languages this way and met some memorable people and situations. Just go!
(The only one time it failed me was in Great Falls MT, during an airline strike. There were no rooms to be had anywhere, so I was in a local pub chatting up the waitress. Were getting along ok and and I offered to take her home after work. She laughed and said, you don't have a room do you? Seems she'd been propositioned all night by stranded flyers, but her boyfriend was picking her up.
Couldn't even find a hooker. Spent that night back at the airport on a hard bench).

We should be gentle in our criticism, otherwise folks won't post their mistakes, only successes.

There were plenty of other hotels if I wanted to pay more. I don't think you are going to have a problem. However whatever room you pick make sure that room is available for you during your whole duration if you like it. Otherwise you will be playing musical hotels. They honor reservations first

Sosua, here I come.
I'm a complete newbie visiting Sosua for the first time for my first P4P experience in a few days. I have read posts going back over a year and gained much valuable information from the contributors of this forum. Thank you, guys. However, I had a serious case of information overload. Pros and cons, what to do and what not to do, all that knowledge jumble up together in my head. In the end, the only way to experience Sosua is to go there. And so I scrounged up the little vacation time that I had and flying in very soon for a short period of time. I intend to hit the ground running as to enjoy the most of the time I am there. Landing with boxful of condoms and I don't intend to bring back any.
I'm of Asian heritage. I'm pretty frugal and good at sticking with a budget. Also, I don't really need to drink to have a good time. So much of my budget can be directed to getting the girls. The BBQ in Sosua sounds delicious though. (BigD's or rocky's).
I do intend to enjoy as many of Sosua's delights as possible, morning to night. If 1000-1500 or 2000 pesos for ST, 2000 or more for LT is what you guys say is the going rate, I can stick to it. I learned from you guys to state what I am willing to pay first, negotiate and discuss everything upfront. Safer for a newbie like me that way.
I speak no real Spanish (which I understand could prevent me from enjoying Sosua to the fullest) but do intend to study the basic before I get there. Google Translate is going with me.
I am humbled by the experience of the members of this forum. Right now, I'm probably over-confident because I am excited to finally be in Sosua for real. I am very sure that I will most definitively make many mistakes on this trip. The only thing I can do is turn up the frequency and try not to make the same mistake twice. Any tips or thoughts will be greatly valued by me as specially with the matter of getting the girls. Even tough love will be very welcomed at this point.
See you in Sosua. I'll post what I will find out there.

You should have a great trip.
Keep on with your Spanish up to the day you fly. Every little helps. I advise you to concentrate on the numerals, including hundreds and thousands. This is where most newbies come unstuck.
You do not say for how long you are there. (Tip: don't tell chicas and other locals which day you are leaving). Have you decided on a hotel? No real need, you can find one when you arrive, assuming you arrive in daylight.

I stayed at new gardens newest side I was the only one there besides the guard and cleaning lady for the first 5 days of my trip. If there were other guests staying in that side I didn't see them. Yep my mongering experience before this took place in Cancun Mexico it wasn't much a taxi took me to a strip club / brothel. I also met a girl in a bar on the strip there I thought I successfully ran game on her when she agreed to come to my hotel then she hit me with "how much you offer". LOL before my September trip I was pretty inexperienced. Anyway ill be returning for Superbowl weekend. I know its going to be packed but anything else I need to know about going there for Superbowl?

See you in Sosua. I'll post what I will find out there.
This'll be my first Sosua Super Bowl as well and I keep reading that during the Super Bowl the town is filled with chicas who jack up their prices because of the demand.
If I can find any ST under 2000 I'll be happy.
Also I don't expect to find any LT / TLN as the chicas will try to generate as high a turnover as possible (profits) and will be watching the clock and trying to hurry out of the room.
