Day 1-Fri.

6:45 am flight. Went to bed 11:30 p, up at 3:30 am. Sigh. Spirit was actually fast at check in and was to my gate 1-1/2 early. Ouch.

Hour delay on runway in Ft Lauderdale. Sigh. Wheels down 2 pm MDE time. Could tell it was a holiday weekend, usually about the only Gringo on the plane, lot's of hipster's and DudeBro's on the flight.

Meet my new wingman from USSG, Jerry. Airport bus to hotel in Centro.

Start WhatsApp'ing 2 other ISG members Nuupter & Gwl8012, both staying in El Poblado.

Take Jerry on tour of Redlight blocks, he was impressed with the quality for the $. Seemed weaker then last time to me.

The over-all Colombian rate is around 28 dead per 100,000 per year, but 1 US out of 400,000 per year would be a rate of point. 25 per 100,000. Much safer, too much heat to kill a tourist, the cops will actually work that case. (Although not 100% sure if that was 10 in all of Colombia or just MDE, looked into it months back).

And Jamaica, the Bahamas and USA Virgin Islands all have a higher murder rate and nobodies afraid to go there.

I have never been to the U.S. Virgin Islands but The Bahamas is about my least favorite country of over 50 I have visited, and Jamaica sucks in my book as well.

A lot of people aren't afraid to go to Jamaica and The Bahamas, because they stay in their beach resort and at other touristic type places. They don't go, for example, 'over the hill' in Nassau. So it's not really the same as going into the hood to pick up hookers. I have not been to Vietnam but to equate the level of violence in Thailand with that of Colombia is just absurd. And as far as it just being colombianos killing other colombianos, have you ever heard the phrase 'collateral damage'? You think they care if they take out a bystander or two?

Are you saying 10 x 100 =1,000 US tourists were killed in Colombia in the last 10 years? The figure of 10 I got came from either the State Dept or Colombia Reports, can't remember which, I also stated I didn't not remember if that was just Medellin or whole country.

Looking at the State Dept Stats I get 18 US dead from homicide in the last 5 years countrywide, 1/11 to 1/16. (going back further will skew the stats as Colombia has been getting safer).

Day 3, Sun.

Up at 7:45 (man I can not sleep more then 5 hrs or so in MDE).

Nup has a prepago / Fb date, LOL, taking Gw and Jerry to breakfast then VeraCruz / Raudal, then metro to Mayoista for a 1st time visit.

Met Queens35 in Plaza Botero and showed him VeraCruz & Raudal, he likes a Raudal chick and we parted.

Also MDE metro area is about 3.7 million, out of a population of 48 million is more like 7.7%.
