I left NY Thursday afternoon with my updated verifly ap, entered my test results PCR, and other pertinent information, the airline website recognized it and then let me check in, when I got to the airport they wanted to see all the hard copies, I said what's the point of the ap then? Well, due to the pandemic, I have not been to Rio for a while. I have heard from a few Carioca friends that many stores and businesses have closed their doors for good, in various neighborhoods within the city of are. De Jan. Particularly, No Centro. I have only heard of these changes, but I will see first hand once I arrive in a couple of weeks. I have spent much time having fun, and working a bit in that area over the years. Hopefully, I will not be a depressing sight.

I ran across a few different articles about the possible plans for No Centro in the future (For example, converting currently standing commercial buildings into resident apartments). So I am just sharing, for those who find it interesting. Sorry that it is in Portuguese. For those who can't read the language, just use google translator.

I was simply replying to someome else and stating that there are 1) lots of cheap flights between SP and RJ over the next 2-3 weeks and that 2) I would prefer to buy two one way tickets (even if it means different airlines) rather than round trip as it gives you more options / flexibility to take the flight that fits your schedule.

You've discovered what most new visitors to Brasil have -- ie. Brasilians are the best performers in the World and it's not even close. FWIW most of us have "overspent" in Termas. The price is fixed so there's not much you can do about it. And Monte Carlo is in the tourist zone so it's going to be more expensive than the Centro Termas. It asks for my birthday, but I can't tell if I needed to put DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY. I put it as the latter. I'll have to call the airline on Monday to confirm. 2. When putting in my billing address, it lists all the states except CA! wth? 3. Phone number seems to be in Brazil format. I put my US number in there, and it didn't error out on me.

I could've paid $100 without much burden to my wallet, and that's how much a found RT flight in a cheap / close destination usually is. But I don't like the thought of paying $100 more than I should've. So I would've preferred to just stay in SP if that was the case. The airfares are now back to normal. All is well. I won't tell you how to spend your money.
