A member of considerable experience should know better. Tip to all newbies never ever get drunk in foreign countries. It does not matter who pushes the drinks on you. If you want to drink to oblivion stay in the room and get drunk preferably with a girl you can trust. We do not go to other countries to get drunk like some 18 year old who can drink there legally.

Lots of bad things can happen when your judgement is impaired. I remember having to bail out some of my friends when they got drunk. Trust no fly by night girls to protect you.

Yes in some places it is obligatory to buy a drink but it is your decision to finish the drink or not. If you are getting drunk get some coffee to wake you up.

And that was an awesome day.[/QUOTE]You're comparing two different worlds, even though both are great for mongering. Thailand is maybe 10 x the size of DR? Maybe 6-7 x the population? You cannot compare Sosua to Bangkok or Pattaya, the latter are bigger (especially Bangkok) in multiple ways and therefore will offer more options. If you live in North America, Sosua is quite convenient and only a few hours by flight compared to Thailand which takes me one full day to get to from where I am. It also costs 3-4 x as much to fly there. I love Thailand as well, but if I really wanted to. I could be in DR tomorrow morning / afternoon, bang at least a few attractive women (and get GFE) over 24-48 hours, and be back at work Monday morning. Without breaking the bank. If I leave for Thailand tomorrow morning, unless my flight is filled with thai hookers willing to fuck me at 35,000 feet. I'm not even going to arrive there until Monday morning.

And for many people, the convenience and cost factor wins out. If you have 7-10+ days, and can adjust to jetlag quickly. Thailand is fantastic and you have many options. Chances are you won't get bored with so much to do / see. But for some quick weekend mongering, it doesn't get much better than Sosua when you are in North America.

It takes me 14 hours to fly from SFO to Manila and another three to get to BKK if I go there. Plus a two hour shuttle ride to SFO from my hometown. With the shuttle and airfare it costs around $1300 and18 hours including check-in time to get to Manila if flying on Philippine Airlines direct. To get to Sosua from West Coast I fly to ATL for about $400 (7 hours), have to stay overnight there for $60 (8 hours), and fly into Santo Domingo on Delta for around $600 (3 hours) then bus it three hours to Sosua for a total of around $1200 and 21 hours. So, it actually takes me longer to get to Sosua for only $100 less. Still I want to go there to grab the big boobs that are scarce in PI.

The draw back is the late night / morning lay over in New York, 12:30 am to 6:30 am, coming home.
