I have spent time in several cities in the DR. I have never felt in any danger. I try not to put my self in a position to be concerned. This is prudent in any city in the world. Sosua by far a safe as can be. It is so small and easy to maneuver. I can not recall on this forum anyone being assaulted or threaten at gun point. Some of us have gotten drunk and put them selves in very vulnerable positions with little negative consequence. All this being said I am bias.

A long while ago I wrote about a monger called "Jerry" who had a bulls eye painted on the front of his shirt, because of his bullshit attitude towards the locals.
In a week everything that could happen to him, short of lasting physical damage, happened. Pickpocketed, assaulted by a chica, scammed by bartenders, and stiffed by putas, you name it.
We've all met guys like that, but I don't think the average monger has anything to worry about if he behaves reasonably, and keeps his powder dry.

I woke up without a stitch of clothing on and had to get my bearings. I was in my hotel bed and there was a girl who was in the nude next to me as well. Now for what really matters. I find my pants and check my pocket for my phones. I wasn't thinking about the money because I didn't have that many pesos in my pocket to begin with. No phones. I go over to the safe. 2 phones, 700 pesos. Check. Everything is here. Don't know how my suitcase got in here but I'm glad it is. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and take a shower. I got out and went over to warm my girl up for freaky freaky. And good freaky freaky it was. When we finished I started asking questions. She said that I brought my own suitcase inside. As heavy as it was and up three flights of stairs, wow. I didn't remember a damn thing. Soon my girl said that she had to go back to her room but wanted to see me later. Well you can't see me later because I am leaving Sosua, but I will take you to your room (she lives in Santiago, but came to Sosua for a few days to get money) because I have to go to the bank anyway.
When we got outside I had no idea where the car was. She said you parked it right there. It was in the first parking spot next to the door, whereas I usually park on the street. We got in and headed to the bank. When we passed Rocky's I thought I saw Wrx inside. I went to the ATM and withdrew about 10000 pesos. I circled back around to the beach to get some ribs at Big D's. WTF, Big D's is closed. Lo and behold, that was Wrx inside of Rocky's. I sat down and ordered my ribs and told him about my crazy night and morning before heading off to see my girl in Puerto Plata.
