You get in an accident, heart attack, stroke, into the hospital. So who can access your funds to pay your bills, hospital, house, support for your teeruk? How fluent are you in Thai? She's taken care of you while you were sick, an invalid, bedridden, taken HER time to spend with you. Not the good times when you were up and about, but now, roll you over to prevent bedsores, spoon feed you, take care of your personal hygiene. Yes, you've supported her, but now what? She's past her prime, any thoughts of what happens to her? Yes, it's all fun and games until it's not. I've heard the tales, granted 2nd hand, but from Thais who do care about others. The falang in the hospital, no visitors, staring at the ceiling day and night. So, some visitors are arranged. The falang stuck in, they might say spare bedroom, I say closet, while she has the run of the house with her BF. Some LE intervention, a PAID caretaker arranged.

Some say Karma, others it's "Do unto others..." If you're accepted as family, as a friend, with a bit of luck, you'll be OK. But having the attitude of "King"... fine when you're upright, but when not... amazing how fast all those [I]friends[/I] disappear. True the world over.

Full disclosure: I wear a shirt with pockets - 1 for phone, 1 for glasses. The former I can do without, but the latter... only when I want to be illiterate.

I think I look presentable. I have nice banana republic shorts and t-shirts without any branding. I do walk first thing in the morning for about 30 minutes without a shirt. I'm trying to get more vitamin D from the sun and that isn't the best look. But I do that at a mall parking lot before it opens.

Keen closed toe sandals on my go-to and you can wear them everywhere without looking like a schlumpf.
