Was in Carlton Palace hotel last week in shisha bar. Went in around 12 and the place was 25% filled. After reading a few posts on this page about Broadway making a come back, I decided to pop-in for a visit the other night to see if what I read online was true. In a way it was, but still far from its former glory.

I used to visit Broadway very regularly from 2006 to 2007. The set-up there was unique for the time. The girls were mostly CIS, the rooms were about at AED300-500 per night and the 'club' in the lobby was open almost 24/7 with at least a handful of girls available at anytime, even at 6 am. Obviously, nights were popping starting at about 9 PM.

The unique selling point was that most of the girls were fresh to Dubai. In fact, a girl I know who now has 'fashion career' in Dubai made her start in Broadway. All the girls there have managers (usually an older woman of the same nationally) who monitor onsite to screen customers and collect cash before the deed. Back then, it was a flat 300 AED per pop and you could take as many girls as you like up to the room at any time without the reception staff even batting an eye. Nice, right? I had a few good times there. I can't recall exactly when it was when I read on this forum that the hotel had gone red. It must have been around 2008-2010 or thereabouts. I had moved on to greener pastures by then, so I marked Broadway's demise with a moment of silence and moved on.

Fast-forward to 2019 and there I was, eating a shawarma outside the hotel at 9 pm watching the night shift arrive just like I used to a decade go. I had just picked up my room key, for which I paid AED165 on Booking. BTW, they still keep your identification card at reception until you checkout, which is a practice I can understand but still don't not like.

About the the women. I can sum it up one word. Underwhelming. It was like I stepped back in time to Broadway of 2006 with a just a couple of differences. First, swap out all the CIS with Syrians. Not top shelf either. More like dolled up village girls who used to work the clubs of Damascus when it was still a tourist destination. I arrived early that night (10 pm) so being the only man in the club meant that I had a about 10 backto-back interviews with the girls. This really gave me a sense of the place. They all had the same rap. 'Hi, what's your name, where you from? Where are you staying? Want sex?' All in Arabic. All Syrian and one Egyptian. It was like they were all scripted. They also have a set menu of prices. 500 AED for an hour, 700 for two hours, 1,000 for three hours and 1,500 for six hours. If a girl quotes more, its because she thinks you are going to be hard work so adds on the premium tax. Some will volunteer their service level like if they do BBJ or CBJ. Most will want to go upstairs if you only want an hour, and the rest will push you to have a party at 1,500 if you want take-out. And by 'party' I mean drinking and (lame) belly dancing for at least four of your six hours.

Second big change, and similar to what the Moscow Hotel are now doing (from what I've read), the Broadway reception staff have figured out how to cash-in. They will charge you 200 AED per girl you take up if, like me, you went for an online booking and paid an initial 150 AED for your room. Alternatively, you can go in with no pre-booking and get a room a la-carte per-say (with your chosen girl) for a flat AED300, and then an additional AED 200 per new girl thereafter. What a racket! Not exactly the most elegant of operations.

'One-shot' at Broadway is comparable in price to MR and other incall options you have around town. But since this all happens in the cub / hotel setting you have the benefit of a line-up of sorts. 5-10 girls during low hours and 20-30 girls on the weekend. And you'll need to operate around hotel check-in / out hours. Do you need Arabic? Yes, if you want to do anything more that a quick suck and fuck. Otherwise, you can probably get by in English.

Is it my cup of tea? Not anymore. Back in 2006, I thought it was the kipper's knickers. Now, I found the girls trashy, the club juvenile, the rooms tatty and the AED200 fee to the mafia running registration exorbitant.

I think Broadway part of a dying breed. Sure, there might still be a customer base that needs and like these sorts of environments. If you are going to spend 800-1000 AED and are just a little bit tech savvy, then you can do much better.

I've stayed in a couple of hotels in dubai (Hilton / Meridian) over weekends, and also in RAK and Fuj, have never had my ID kept at reception. They just get a copy. Even with my visiting GF they just get a copy of her passport, and with WGs copy of ID.
