I will be in town Wednesday and one of the things I love to do is dance Bachata. It is a great way to break the ice with the girls. Every women is different when you dance with them. But I think more thought and consideration should go into their (the womans) reasons for being hardcore rather than blaming it on something some prior visitors supposedly is responsible for.

I rented multiple apartments in Fortaleza last year and this was the policy in all of them. An aparthotel or flat in São Paulo last year, same thing. The people at the front desk told me it was new government policy (when I asked about it in Fortaleza).

These brethren are reaping what they and their brethren before them have sowed in SOS. I absorb data and have over about 100 days in SOS in the past year or so. I have listened to our American brethren, watched their behavior, heard them espouse their views, seen how they treat the chicas, heard them discuss their experiences. Suffice it to say that most of our brethren live in their own perspectives (and it reinforces itself in a feedback loop) and the chicas too. Live in their own perspectives with its own, but different, feedback loop, with opposing views. But the balance of power is with the men with dineros.
Clearly, the DR govt and the local autonomous government (based on the daily reports at the consolidated level from the tourist police of incidents from both men and the pro chicas) are grappling with the tempers, discord, and mistrust that is getting slowly but surely aggravated over time by both our brtehren and the pro chicas. I suspect the boling point or breaking point will reach its conclusion in the coming years, as each sides' feedback loop aggravates the other side's perspectives more and more.
The local government is trying to find an alternative tourism revenue stream and if they can't, they will simply have to step up enforcement more and more in SOS, and at the point of entry and departure at the airports and try to get our brethren to modify their behavior, or at least have some of them take their business elsewhere.
This will percolate and percolate and boil and boil, and reach its conclusion in the coming years. Just the nature of social systems at work at a macro level. IMO. Just one solitary guys take on things and where it is headed. Just one guys opinion. Sorry, I am not going to get into details as it is best not to air such laundry in a public forum, IMO. Not good for any or all of us, collectively.

I'm probably wrong, but I class the chicas with all other employees. People take a particular job either because their options or limited, or because they see it as a way to advance. This excludes the people who are forced into a job, which so often happens with prostitution. Especially in the sex trade (stripping, porn, prostitution) this is true. Whether in a depressed area in a US city, or in a third world country, many people, especially women, don't have other options. Some will learn to tolerate the work, some will even come to enjoy it, but many will hate every minute.
The women who see their work as a way to advance also develop different attitudes. Some realize the money isn't worth the costs, some enjoy the money and ignore the downside, and a rare few have the attitude of "I get paid for this?" When you are dealing with someone who hates their job, the experience is not going to be good, and quite often, our reaction just makes things worse. The bad experience, for both parties, makes it difficult to approach the next encounter with a positive attitude.
Gents, Does anyone know of a local driver they feel comfortable recommending? I will be in Sosua for approximately ten days mid March and plan to make a couple of day trips to 27 Charcos, Playa Grande etc. , but don't like the liability of renting a car. Not everything can be blamed on prior mongers. We all know why women decide to become working girls. A woman just doesn't grow up wishing she would be a working girl. A hardcore chica is like the server who doesn't care about a client in a restaurant but still hopes to get a good tip. My worst experience in Sosua was my first experience, she rushed me and wouldn't even want me to change position and she wanted me to pay more. She new that was my first day. But I gave her her 1500 peso and kicked her out. This girl had the nerve to ask another session when I went back to Rumba. I told her to get out of my face. I saw her at Rumba every night when I was there but she knew that talk to me. Most hardcore chicas just have the hustle mentality, for them quantity is better than quality.
If a girl doesn't understand the value of customer repeat, she most likely won't care about giving a good service.

La Passion, CMP, the'Latin and El Flow are noticably closed. No sign of imminent re-opening. Jolly Roger is re-opened.
It rained most of last week.
Dancing Bachata in bars is not discouraged but needs to be instigated by customers. I had a great time dancing, especially now I quit smoking, and have much more staying power. This time I tired out my partners!
Noticeable drop off in numbers and quality of putas all last week, particularly up to 9 pm Saturday. Maybe they were getting prepped for Classico, but I don't stay up that late. Rhumbas is filled but kinda gloomy. That exciting vibe is missing.
A lot of the outlying bars were dead, including one of my old favorites, Don Andres.
I went to check out Casa Cayena Friday at 6. 30, and it was also dead, just me and a bored barrista and a cat. I stood by the pool and cast my mind back a couple years, a bikini booty dance contest and a really wild party.
They say it is $60 for a room with breakfast and dinner, and for two, $80.
Generally bar owners complained of poor business.
Checked out a condo in a renovated hotel, accross from Infiniti Blu. They want $70,000 for a 1 Bed, 1 and half bath unit. Great location for the price, gated, big pool and beautifully kept areas. I was thinking of buying one and using it 6 months of the year, but my DR GF would go crazy there, She is used to sounds of life, dogs, music, kids.
I'm not ready for that yet either.
So, bottom line, I wouldn't have wanted to be there last week without the GF. Hope it picks up again.
Although it was the quietest I've seen it since I've been coming, ironically I had the best vacation week ever. A lot to be said for having a regular who turns your crank!

Dancing Bachata in bars is not discouraged but needs to be instigated by customers. I had a great time dancing, especially now I quit smoking, and have much more staying power. This time I tired out my partners!
Noticeable drop off in numbers and quality of putas all last week, particularly up to 9 pm Saturday. Maybe they were getting prepped for Classico, but I don't stay up that late. Rhumbas is filled but kinda gloomy. That exciting vibe is missing.
A lot of the outlying bars were dead, including one of my old favorites, Don Andres.
I went to check out Casa Cayena Friday at 6. 30, and it was also dead, just me and a bored barrista and a cat. I stood by the pool and cast my mind back a couple years, a bikini booty dance contest and a really wild party.
They say it is $60 for a room with breakfast and dinner, and for two, $80.
Generally bar owners complained of poor business.
Checked out a condo in a renovated hotel, accross from Infiniti Blu. They want $70,000 for a 1 Bed, 1 and half bath unit. Great location for the price, gated big pool and beautifully kept areas. The problem? Looks like where all my fellow Canadians go to die. Everyone speaking in whispers.
