So its not a criticism of the actual staff but the management failing to staff certain functions adequately. The front desk staff should just let the phone ring if they are busy with customers perhaps, or get a separate switchboard function to handle it. Anyway more desk staff needed!

I think MG was worse than most Hotels in this respect, as it is the only one where I noticed the problem repeatedly.

Also the girl working the bar / cafe area near the front desk was incredibly slow. Sometimes you just want to pay and leave and cannot get attention, or want another coffee.

I got used to "Miss Turbo" service of coffees at Livingstone's Lodge till she unfortunately left to have a baby.

I would still stay at MG but its certainly not perfect.

As said, I have been there 5 times in 6 weeks and none seemed to remember me and went through the usual paperwork routine and blah blah, that I rate annoying when you just checked out 4 days before. Concierge staff do remember me well, and reception not: how comes? Never rising their eyes from the PC screen? Check out is time consuming as they send someone into the room to check it (minibar? Not only, they found and brought down what I had forgotten in a night table drawer, but not ALL what I had forgotten, nothing precious, anyhow)

Other than that the price is ok, facilities too in general, breakfast is generous, swimming pool a bit too noisy with the constant whirlpool jets in action (don't get a room at pool side below 10th floor as pool is at 7th and you get the noise) so not ideal for just relaxing. I like those jets, but half area would be ok and less noisy.

Need more staff and a bit more efficiency training too. More attention to the customer's needs instead of the inefficient procedures. The front desk works better at many other Hotels.

Still an O.K. Hotel overall with good breakfast. Way better than Citadines 23 in my view. It you are an Annies customer its still ideal, and just put up with the slow front desk.

If you really want to impress the Annies girl, there is the JW Marriot but that is in a completely different price range for the most part. She would rather you spent the extra money on her tip, I'll bet. LOL
There is also Solo small boutique hotel further down the Soi but watch out if your girl is not yet 20 years old. Ha Ha!
