Recent reports have led me to think that this place is still alternative to CR and MDE, for someone needing to break-away from the stale. I was researching DR for a trip over a year ago, but seemed the scene was going down hill fast. Should I give this place another look? MDE is still the best in the Americas, but it appears that DR might allow me to break-away from the routine for a trip.

Biggest drawback may be getting there. Depending on where you are going from airfare is pretty high. On the plus side the pussy is about 1/2 of what you would pay in CR. Rooms are a little cheaper than CR. Depending on airfare probably good for a change of pace.

I think maybe you have me confused with a different poster. As for Wilfried, I think I know him well enough to ask about the owner of Rancho Tipico because of my interest in learning Bachata and someone suggested that venue as one of the few options in Sosua. Yeah, I plan on drinking a bit while I'm learning. I have NEVER ever personally been involved in a physical confrontation so I stay away from dudes like that. And one reason I rarely ever go to Rumbas any longer, unless I am dragged in there by a bro who has been residing there for over a year now, and who does like that place! I wish D'Latins would open back up. Classicos, Club X and After 1 ( after 230 am on Thu, Fri, Sat) have been my only options lately.
However, if you know of any non pro or semi - pro chicas in the Pto Pta area who speak just enough english to help me learn Bachata, I would appreciate it. No probs whatsoever in keeping the dancing 100% limited to teaching and learning and keeping it strictly limited to learning Bachata. We often read about the negative behavior of Sosua Chicas on this board. Today I want to tell you guys about a surprising but yet refreshing event on my last trip to Sosua. One night I called this Haitian over I met earlier on the strip. She arrived on a moto and was getting ready to pay him. Then an argument broke out between the two of them in Spanish (My Spanish is very limited) and I could not understand what they were saying. After the argument, she gave him some pesos and he left. I then asked her what was that about. She said we agreed that he would charge me 35 pesos to bring me to your hotel and once we arrived he seen you he did not want to take my money and wanted you pay him (Thinking he can get a lot more from me) but I told him no because I can't make you pay for me especially after we agreed on the price. That was my thirteenth trip to Sosua and never seen anything like that before. Actually, my experience has been the opposite. Most Chicas are in on the scam with the moto guy. I didn't mind paying the guy, however, he would of only got 15 pesos more but the point was she was not going to allow the guy to scam her client like that. I told her I appreciate her honesty. After our session, I gave her 500 pesos tip for her good deed with the moto guy. BTW. She was great in the sack. I love big booty Haitians.

He should have been more polite but I can also understand the frustration of someone taking up a table for 2+ hours and not spending any $$ A few bottles of water and some wings is less than $10.00 , the man needs to generate more income than that off a table.
