you helpee hater, you:)
some of you regulars are so spoiled. but for the rest of us out on bail from the sex prison, despite sometimes poor quality, helpee was still a unique experience.
Wasn't AMEX in Brazil bought out by Bradesco? Amex exchange rates on purchases suck.
No. AMEX shut down their office at the Copacabana Palace. BTW, American Airlines office is gone too. Oh well.

If I think that with soccer on 2.014 and Olympics on 2.016 better to enjoy Rio right now as much as possible, cause these are the last golden years even for Rio?
What I am afraid is, that prices will go up and no more down and the city will be invaded to every kind of potencial monger, that as minimum will overpay GDP and so on.
I hope I am really wrong, however thieves and bandits will be very happy of this decision, they are gonna to have great "business" out there.

This will only make it worse, as it will throw supply and demand even further out of whack. Like you, I sincerely hope I'm wrong and would appreciate someone playing Devil's Advocate on these theories.
*=by "Golden Age," I refer to a time when Rio was relatively cheap, and not overrun by uninformed tourists. As a result, the GDPs had to provide better service to keep your interest and were willing to hang out with you for longer periods of time to protect their investment.
I think people are perhaps over reaching on the impact. In terms of numbers, this is barely a bigger event than Carnival spread out over a larger part of Rio.
The Exchange rate may react at first but brazilian currency is so amazingly artificially inflated right now that I suspect well prior to 2016, it will tumble for many of the same reasons the dollar has recently.

From personal experience, I have seen how big events like this drive prices up for everything, not just for the girls, and then they never, ever come back down. This really, really sucks for mongering in Rio. Big time! Do you realize how many horny guys are already zeroing in on Rio de Janeiro??? Puttin' push-pins into big, colorful wall maps!
Plan to go to Rio before Help is closed forever and before the weak dollar loses even more value to the gaining real! I expect the heat to be turned up on the termas and the whole of the sex industry in Rio. Just like in Beijing where they shut it down. They clamped down good!
Many China travelers report that things still haven't recovered to where they were before the Beijing games. Even if plenty of termas do remain open, prices are going to go sky high, and they won't come back down anytime soon after that. This is just awful news for the Rio monger nation!
It's going to be intriguing to watch Rio de Janeiro transform itself over the upcoming years leading up to the games. We don't know exactly what is going to happen, but based upon prior experience, I'm confident that Rio will be changed forever as a mongering destination, and specifically for the worse for seasoned international mongers.

No need to worry about something that's 7 years ahead.
You guys love to worry about everything. :D
The GP-prices, the dollar-rate, the quality of the water and now the olympics.
Hmm...don't like it. I really hoped they would choose Madrid. Wonder though how they ever gonna get it done. They will have to break down whole parts of the city centre and create new highways from and to the airport. In fact they better tear down the entire airport and build a whole new one, now that I'm thinking about it. Then they will have to build lots of new hotels, clean up some of the central favela's, etc etc etc. It's going to be a HUGE challenge to get this one done.
...and I yes, I think it will be bad for our hobby, but only in the last 2 years before the Olympics. The coming years I think we won't see any significant changes.

Howcome? They will build a stadium on Praça Quinze? There are plenty of room in Rio to build whatever they need. They managed the Pan American Games without any major problems. The Olympics is bigger, but they are very capable of managing that, even though it will cost quite a few reais.
I advice you to have a look at a map and do some study, and you'll discover that Rio doesn't consist of the area Copacabana-Centro. They have vast areas after Barra. Where do you think they held the Panam games? Av Rio Branco?
I think the Olympics in Rio is great news and I'm happy for all the brazilians.
