I am not quite sure about that. How come France could help Germany to overcome gas supply shortage when France's imports of natural gas primarily (and increasingly) come from Norway (40% or so), with smaller volumes from Qatar, Russia, north Africa. If it means diverting part of France gas import to Germany, it will need a proper infrastructure which takes years to build, not months.
A large proportion of France electricity, energy comes from nuclear power station, so little dependency on fossil fuel.

Many French nuclear factories are under service or works at the moment, so we may ask Germany to provide us electricity.

Germany will just use its reserves until December 20, then at that point the USA and Qatar will be delivering liquefied natural gas to the terminal which was built at light speed due to the German environmentalists being unable to object since environmentalists love Ukraine for some reason.

Ramping up the capacity and building energy infrastructure will take years, and EU industries will either be on life support or collapse in the interim. The key point to understand is that EU is paying exorbitant prices for this LNG on the spot market. It is not like there is all this new LNG that just magically appeared since February 24. Over 75 percent of the LNG cargoes in Europe were diverted from Asia. The EU's last-minute scrambling for natural gas would be the equivalent of trying to buy a last minute ticket on a fully booked December 24 outbound flight. You have two options: (1) show up at the terminal and bribe other passengers, or (2) hope that the airline "breaks the contract" with pre-existing passengers and sells their ticket to you. In both cases, you would need to pay significant markup.

Since 1 September, 0,50 € discount on gas on French Total stations, about 0,40 € in others, and we have magic E85 bioethanol for around 0,7 €/ l. As we say in France, we don t have petrol, but we have ideas and I have ideas to use our qualities. We won t miss gaz in France, even coming from abroad and will give to Germany versus electricity if we need until more of our nuclear factories are working. I worry for Ukraine on this Winter, for old people and babies in the cold when can be minus 10/20 and big snow, new war by Putin who lost with his army. Our Napoleon was the strongest army, but he lost mostly versus the cold in Russia, when they were soldiers, not weak people.

I think it's funny that the French finance minister is showing his whiney pussy by crying about what he calls "unfair US policies". What policies? The US government is providing subsidies to private American companies, subsidies funded by American taxpayer dollars, in order to keep the price of energy commodities that are secured within American borders by private American companies low in order to protect Americans and American quality of life. What responsibility do these private companies have to France whatsoever? Do these French officials want American politicians to force private companies to sell to other countries at a discount? Do they want American taxpayers to subsidize private industry exports? Shit we're already funding the Ukraine War, providing more aid than all of Europe combine.
