Last week they opened PedWest back up going from Mexico to the US. Starting Monday they will have it open going from the US into Mexico. This will only be open from 3 pm till 11 pm everyday so not sure if this really helps any of us.
Seems pretty obvious that this is just to help those going back and forth to do holiday shopping. At least it's something.

I got into town, settled into Rizo de Oro. The remodeled rooms are nice, but alas, the prices have gone up here too. With Adelitas out of the picture, there isn't much luxury hotel competition for Cascadas & Rizo.
Headed to Calimax to get my supplies. Some toiletries, TP for the room, plastic cups, drinks, tequila & rum, snacks, etc.
Took a lap around the stroll and didn't see anything interesting, so I decided it was time to see my fav mesero at tropical. Pulled a girl from Tropical just to get the lay of the land. She asked for $2000 MXN, I countered with $1600 and we settled on $1800 MXN. She was service focused, average, but fun. Kinda like a safe backup.
2nd day I decided to check out Chicago. I've had some great girls from there in the past. I only brought $200 with me, I don't like taking my entire wallet. I know exactly how much I spent on drinks and exactly what should have been in my wallet. I pulled my cash out to give a tip to the doorman on the way out, and somewhere between the door of Chicago & the top of the stairs at jalos this * took the rest of my cash. I went to pay for the room at the top of the stairs and realized it was gone, so I quickly went back and retraced my steps. I almost gave her the benefit of the doubt, but when I came back upstairs she quickly made up an excuse why she had to leave and couldn't continue so I knew something was up. Typically if I knew the mesero or frequent a place, I would say something, but this is the first time in 10 trips, so I chalked it up to experience.
Left Chicago, went to HK. Found another average chick at an average price.

You would figure that things are more expensive in a big modern city like Mexico City than Tijuana, but just about everything in Mexico City is cheaper. Monterrey too. The reason is that there are tons of people working in San Diego making $20/ hour at fast foods and living in Tijuana like upper class folks. People living in Mexico City don't get the $20/ hour minimum wage.

A person working 30 hours a week (which is normal for fast food) and paying taxes would make after tax dollars of around $450 a week (this includes SS / MEDI tax and whatever local / state taxes apply, in addition to roughly 10% income tax).
Compare that to mexico (as a whole, tijuana is likely expensive for most mexicans) households making that in a month. I've heard economic reports stating mexicans are getting around $800 per household, which may or may not include multiple workers.
I see a lot of conflicting reports when it comes to wages though. We all know taxis working at the border make bank (relatively speaking). I've read on [URL]payrollmexico.com[/URL] that the minimum wage is 300 MXN per day (a little more than $20/ day USD) in the border region, which tijuana would be. I am certain many people work for this wage, and the averages have to be skewed by incredibly well paid professionals.
On quora people are saying $800/ month for call center jobs. Put this all into perspective. How much should a girl make for spreading her legs for you? No doubt more than a normal job, but how much more? And how many clients / hours should she do it for? I think its reasonable for a girl to get half a day's wage in one go. And that would be a normal street girl doing a quickie (although I'd say 20 minutes or half an hour should be a quickie, not 5 minutes). Given this information, a girl *should* be charging around 10 USD for a quickie. However we know for a fact that even street girls are charging much more. This is because Americans are paying it. There are many people who are not on this board who would pay even American prices for these girls, simply because its legal here. I understand why they do it, but the reason many of us come to mexico is because its cheaper.

On my last trip I met a gringo looking guy who spoke perfect spanish. He worked at burger king and lives like a king here in Tijuana. His rent was like $200/ month, and he eats out every day (most Americans cannot even afford this lifestyle). Americans are pushing up prices fast in Tijuana, and it won't slow down. This is very specific to Tijuana though, given san diego is incredibly expensive. I'm sure there are border towns (less safe ones) in the central border or eastern border area where US incomes have little or no effect, but then again how good is the mongering? Unfortunately mongering is dying (if you read the south american forums) in a lot of the countries, and not getting better anywhere. We might be the last generation to experience working girls who do not cost us a fortune.
I'm not sure if we can provide a solution to this economic death spiral of prostitution. I was thinking there should be an app kind of like airbnb but for girls haha. You know, with reviews and listed prices or something. It's just too much ring around the rosie trying to figure out what the prices should be and such and what services are advertised and what are actually provided. Monday alley was fairly quiet. Monday is the off day in mexixo for bars clubs. I showed up buzzed and thought the policia were guys in costumes. That was my 1st reaction. Hk didn't have a lot of guys. Decent amount of woman at the other 2 main bars as well. Woke up today and a friend needed me to go to her medical appointment with her. The other parents waiting outside were probably wondering what inwas doing there. Then the guard came to unlock the gate to let me in like I was some one important. She had me walk to a school near zona and then proceeded to have me teach English to her 11 year-old students. Mostly they wanted me to translate stuff and then the stuff they were asking me to translate. Was mostly bad stuff. It was quite funny. I probably never had that much fun in mexixo before.

When that 20 an hour wage starts, it's going to bankrupt a lot of food places. McDonald's is getting so expensive people are going to stop going. Food inflation and 20.00 an hour will be the end. These liberals are dumb as hell. They don't understand that fast food isn't supposed to cost the same as fine dining LOL.

Not so many of those.
It's not like anyone in Tijuana can just go to San Diego to work.
There are also US residency requirements to maintain the green card.

They are from Venezuela and other countries on asylum and work. They have been seeking their green card for 5-8 years. They need to submit for a worker permit and renew every 2 years. Some make more money than I do and are quite successful running their own businesses. They have told me their family members that arent citizens have purchased homes in SoCal and enjoying the appreciation since purchase. Even though Venezuela is in a rough financial situation, I’ve been told by some renters they have maids, drivers, and security for cheap in their country. I’m talking about $100-$200 per week for a full time maid, driver, security.

McD for 2 combos and happy meal is like $30-$40. I recall it being $15-$20. Inflation is the silent wealth destroyer for savers, but wealth creation for investors. You can rent a luxury apartment in TJ for under $2k, but $2k wont even get you a one bedroom apartment in SoCal. The limited inventory of available rentals and real estate keeps pushing prices higher with all of this illegal immigration. Great for owners, but terrible for renters. The good times seem to be coming to an end with low interest rate debt and free money. It is going to be a rough down cycle and you’ll start seeing people becoming more desperate. The stores and malls are already dealing with rampant theft and robbery. The people lower on the economic ladder will be doing what they have to do to survive.

The sad news are the good times are slowly coming to a halt with interest rates tripling and inflation at all time highs. I can bet you'll see more desperate times around you and the world. It is the only sad aspect of the profession as it feels at times taking advantage of a vulnerable situation. I guess if people do the profession out of free will, then it is just something between two consenting adults, but other times it is most likely forced exploitation from criminal enterprises.
The only good thing is I know most of the women in HK are not being forced to do the work. Other parts of the world is more sketchy and not sure if the women have their passports taken and they have to work off their travel debts or debts their family owes. Their families and friends ask for loans that never get paid back and most are just trying to survive. It is always the same story but different countries. Sick (insert) farm animal, family member, etc. and the stories could be endless to try and pry more money from unsuspecting mongers.
