I am shocked to hear that Rick was involved with anything illegal. He has always been very helpful and dependable. I never thought he would that kind of thing his character. He seems very simple guy.

Don't forget we are talking about the DR, one of the most corrupt places I have ever been. Every major foreign business owner has been arrested over the last two years. We have the owner of Rumbas, the owner of Classicos, the owner of Passions and others. Hell, were they are corrupt? If so then they all were paying big in the DR to operate, and most of them were in business for along time and not trying to hide from anyone.
Rick was a good friend to all foreigners, and assisted many guys who had got into trouble and had no where else to turn. He was the go to guy for help when we needed it. He wasn't scared to take on the locals to assist a foreigner, and may have made many local enemies. What confuses me is that Interpol is involved. If he is Canadian and committed a crime in Canada why didn't the Canadian authorities just go get him being he wasn't trying to hide?
Its a "Take over", by who we don't know but I have me suspicions. Some say the Dominicans see the future potential of Sosua. Some say the foreign developers are clearing land for their projects, some say the tourist industry wants a clean Sosua, some say its fallout from the recent raid of the villa locally etc. Whats interesting is that the cleanup is starting from the top and not from the bottom which makes me think that whoever is involved has deep pockets.
Understand this; if they can railroad Rick then they can easily fuck us and there is nothing we can do about it. Even if everything they say about Rick proves true, I can say that he was a Foreign guys friend in troubled times, and many guys would thank him for his support.

Ricks wife was driving a very expensive suv but rick always looked disheveled. I always enjoyed eating and chilling at Rockys. Rick was rarely there now a days. Any body know how the place got the name Rockys.

For the first two years of me staying there I never seen him leave that overcrowded with junk small non air conditioned room and I've never seen him with a chica. Seems strange to live there and not sample the chicas. He seems like a nice guy at first but once you get to know him he can be a bit condescending in conversations.

The place was named after the first owners dog. I met him on my last trip. He was computer expert. He sold the place to Rick a few years back.

It's modus operandi in third world countries and I have had two close friends fucked the same way in Nassau and Freeport.
They let the foreigners invest, take the risk, build the business, start making money, and then suddenly, there's visa problems, police harassment. Close it down for a while, then re-open with guess what? A politically correct and policia approved local. Business as usual. Just another bloodless takeover.
Many ex pat businessmen have something to hide, that's why they are out of their own country. It's like shooting ducks.
In the case of my friends they were clean and involved in major brands, and yet they were kicked out too. And, there's nobody to complain to in those countries.
It's got nothing to do with development, marinas, family values, it is simply all about money!

Hey, I am pretty new this so just wanted some input from you guys who I was planning to go to Sousa at the end of this Month from the 27-31 for the first time and wanted to know it if is a good.
Idea to go or not since Easter is coming up the next Weekend. Since it may be packed crazy there with lack of chicas up-selling or not. Just looking for any kind advice from you guys.
