Phnom Penh

This is the report on my February visit to Phnom Penh.

Lodging was at Flamingo hotel as recommended by many on ISG. 20 USD per night for room adequately furnished; A/C, TV, shower & phone.

One way airport transfer is included in the hotel price so you can either email and inform the hotel of your arrival flight detail or have them deliver you to airport free of charge but the other way you have to pay for it.

Thogh the hotel location is very close to many actions but I did not take the advantage as nothing particularly interesting appealed to me either at Walkabout (many girls but no one particularly attractive) or Shanghai.

Decided that Martini should be the best bet, took a moto there for 1 USD. Drink price is reasonable at 1.5-2 USD for beers. Many girls with mix of Viets and Khmers around half half. Many of them just standing, sitting to wait for customers but only a few would actively come to you to offer themselves except some mamasan whom would ask what type of girl you like and she would try to arrange for you.

Went into disco but a bit difficult to distinguish how good they will look like under brighter lighting. Also, heavily polluted with smokes with loud music so I decided to return to the garden. Spotted a young Viet girl so smiled to her and she came to me. But not just herself but also mamasan as she is said to be new to the scene and not able to speak much English. I realized from the moment that this would not come down to the price of 20 USD LT as stated on this firum since it's going through middlewoman; but what I can do as not seeing better one I'd like to spend the night with. Agreed to 30 USD LT to keep her until 8 AM for this 21 yearsold whom later told me she started to work for just one month and used to work at hair salon.

The girl was good in the way that she's fresh but this also means inexperience in service so not much to talk about on that. But at least she's friendly and had no refusing my requests so I rate this as OK.

Sophie was on my agenda since reading so many reports here good and bad. So, the best is to see it first hand myself. Went there around 11 PM and had to knock on door to be opened from inside.

2 guys sitting there but just drinking and no actions seen as expected. One was farang waiting for room to be available and the other was a Cambodian guy. My assumption of no action going on which was verified later by the moto man downstair is that they don't want local people to see what is going on for fear of security. They seem to have policy of not servicing locals and not let them see what the bar usually does.

So, unfortunately I did not have the chance to try each girls before selecting one by instinct. All girls here are Khmers with no Viets. As this is a BJ bar so level of service for BJ is good. The girl I chose did it for quite sometime and asked if I want to CIM or FS for which I said the latter. It was quite a good experience for the service but one thing I don't quite like is quality of room. Very simple and probably overused and a bit doubtful hygiene level as bed sheets not seem to be replaced.

If the management can refurbish the rooms it will make it a more enjoyable experience.

I'm only guessing this is meant for the average local worker off the streets. Although the prices here are way above what an average local worker can afford, I truly wonder if this non-local policy is true as many locals in PP have more money than we do (I've seen them with their fancy cars, bodyguards etc) . Not sure they will get turned down when they start flashing their money around at Sophies.

Also Not really sure about the part that Sophies don't want locals to know what goes on in Sophies because if every motodop/ taxi in PP knows about this place then its not a secret anyway.

They may not like to service a poorer local guy (remember locals are famous for not tipping) but I'm fairly certain he already knows what goes on there---IMO

First trip to Cambodia.

Ok guys my mind is set I will try my first visit to Cambodia.

I will go from Bangkok to Cambodia by airplane.

I will go to PP Phnom Penh.

I read a lot off PP her one the board and I am pretty sure I going to like it.

But to make sure I have all the Wright info on PP I will tell you guys how I am going to do it in general line I mean.

So her goes:

I com to PP airport and there I am going to take a taxi to my hotel (Flamingos Hotel) 20$ for one night.

I hoop this info is correct and I will pay for the taxi 5$ to 10$ something in-between. Or do I have to take an other hotel in PP but it have to be girl friendly off cores? There I will go look for some nice girls on the board thy say grab a motorbike taxi and he get you everywhere you want for the price of 5$ for the day is this info correct to?

So when I take a lady I like for a short time I suppose to pay 15$ to 20$ ST yes or no guys?

And when I take a lady long time to say to spend the all day and night whit me I pay 30$ to 40$ is this info correct to?

I will go on 24 or 25 this month and I going to stay for about 5 days in PP my pocket money I am going to take is 1250 $ will this be ok or chute I take more money? This money is for 5 or 6 days off drinking, hotels and lady’s will this be in off. If there is any off you guys in PP that time please tell me I will happy to go along and enjoy whit him and its my first time in PP so I can need a guide over in PP. That’s it guys I hoop all my info on Cambodia PP is correct when not please tell me what I have to do ok.

Taxi to hotel should be no more then seven dollars s/t 10 tip if you are happy l/t is 20 tip if happy, let me say that this is a base line you will run into other factors for price increases, bars on 102, 104, have bar fines. Around six dollars. There are superstars out there (I have not seen any so far) but I am sure there out there and I am sure they price accordingly I will be there in same hotel the week of the 18th thu 24th but I think I will travel south to the beach then back to Thailand.

In Aug 2006 he asks similar questions saying that he is about to arrive in PP:

And about all the other treats you right I ask it because I have to bring back some lady to BKK and I was thinking off only take the airplain to Vienna and get some mongering there but what the fuck I am going all the way to BKK for one week and now I am alone so I can go everywhere.

But ok when nobody whant to help ok for me I take car for it myself I am a fast learning guy.

All your questions are answered if you know how to read the information on this thread. You don't have to ask over and over the same questions already answerd by others postings, just read and try tounderstand. St is 10 and 15, lt 20 to 25 no tip required, your payment is the tip. Do not shower people with your money it is very bad for everybody.

No taxi needed for pickup from airport if you are staying at Flamingos. Just let them know ahead which day and time your plane arrives and its a free pickup to their hotel.

I was in PP a few months ago, and went to a place I read about called...new world massage if I remember correctly. Well, it was a big fishbowl with the best looking girls seated outside the fishbowl. Those girls, I was told, were all from China, and the girls inside the fishbowl were local Cambo girls.

I picked a Chinese girl. In the room, I asked her about boom boom, and she seemed surprised, then said "one hundred dolla." I made a counter offer of ten dolla. Well she wouldn't go any lower than 70 dolla!

So I am wondering, is this normal for this place? You have to be nuts to pay a price like that in Cambodia.

I took her back to the front desk and asked to choose somebody else. I ended up choosing a local girl and she agreed on $20 for the extras.

Anyway, can anyone else confirm that these "sideline" girls at New World are really all charging that much?

As for the rest of my recent PP trip, the best girls were at Martini and Mikado, IMO. The girl named "Mom" at Mikado is a super sweetie.

Like you, think ask to much for PP.

Dunn know if ladies chinese ,viet or khmer but price dunn attract me to stay. Also dunn think service at this place can be better than Sophie and cheaper.

Depends pal.
Seen some NGO drive in 4x4 usual white cruisers but don't remember if Lexus--doubt it though.
Have many rich Khmer officials and business like people who are rich even by our standards. Easy way of telling is see if passenger in Lexus is farang (NGO) or khmer looking dude.

All think own the streets of PP, maybe they do?
