No one took up my challenge, so I had to do the legwork myself. I found a small cache of BBS type places on Zhaohua Lu. Think intersection of Yanan Xilu and Dingxi Lu area. Most were HJ type, one place was offering FS for RMB300, but they take you to an apartment nearby so declined. I did discover at the corner of Dingxi Lu and Wuyi Lu a temple of flesh called Dream in Shanghai. It's completely unclear to me what kind of place this is (doesn't say sauna and doesn't say KTV) other than it is quite large and has stacks of good-looking girls inside, model types. Find this intersection and you'll find Dream in Shanghai. Unfortunately, it was late and I didn't have enough dough on me to make a go of it. The place is impressive and a little intimidating. Anyway, if someone is up for a new challenge and has some coin, this is a good mark.

Hi, I have been reading the forums for a long time but never posted. But here is my little contribution from my 1st experience in a sauna. Hope it can be useful for newcomers, even if there are a lot of reports already.
I've been in China since 3 months, and I sticked to BBS so far. That's great, but I got a little tired of the quick and cheap standard you find there, then I decided to try something else. Let's just say that I don't regret my choice.
From what I read here, the sweet sauna spots seem to be Shanghai Hotel, Sacrosa and the 999. The last one is just a short walk from my appartment, so I went there.
I need to mention that I don't speak any mandarin, just a few basic words, but nothing to make conversation. That's the case for many of us I think.
So I went to 999 this Sunday afternoon around 2 PM. I received a warm welcome in english at the reception, and someone leads me to the locker room at the back. They gave me the usual numbered wristband, I took my clothes off and went for a quick shower.
Then, someone showed me the way to the 2nd floor and to a small "waiting room" where I sat for about 5 minutes. Some other men were there, also waiting their turns. All locals. An employee asks me if I wanted something, but he was not speaking english and I didn't really get it. Finally he came back with a beer, which was OK, but not necessary. They didn't charge for it anyway.
They I proceeded to the fishbowl, and I realized how this place was great. There was about 20 girls in there, all A+ IMO. I can say the glass is 2 way because some of them were looking at me straight in the eyes. I finally picked number 886 (maybe 896, but I'm pretty sure it was 886). The choice was hard, because many were stunning beauties. But this one caught my attention. It took me a few minutes to make a final decision, while some locals were also juggling with the hard choice at the same time.
We moved to another waiting room for about 5 minutes, kissing and watching some tv.
Then we moved to the private room. We took our clothes off, she washed me and we went for the soapy massage. Some people want it short, but I think that's a good tease being rubbed like this. I liked it. Since I'm not speaking Chinese, and she was not speaking english, we couldn't talk much unfortunately. But we still had a few good laughs, and eye communication.

In saunas like 999, is it a "standard" to pop as many times as you want until the time is over? Or one pop, you relax with the girl, she showers you again, and you're gone? Would be good to know for my next visit.
That was a great experience overall, and I will go back for sure. The facilities are great, and the choice was amazing.

I caught up with Ira downtown on a Line 1 station in Shanghai and bought some of his Generic Cialis. I wasn't able to make use of it in Shanghai, but I moved on to Tapei a few days later and wow, had a wonderful time. I was staying in the hotel next door to Caesars Sauna (see Tapei threads) but had great luck with a Craigslist outcall freelancer. It was the first time I went to a Sauna in Shanghai and I decided to go because of Applecrate's report, although I had tried other saunas around the world I did not feel to try one in Shanghai since I did not have any high expectations (wrong!), at least this one. I will focus on the points Apple did not mention or try to put some addendums to Appleīs report.
--- Not girls related---
1.- The food is excellent, although the menu is not extense you can have a good meal after the session, which in my case was a good idea (and it is included in the price). You can have tea and relax while watching tv. The armchairs are impolutely clean (as the whole complex, which is another plus) Add also extremely comfortable and perfect bathrobe including towels, sandals, etc.
2.- The jacuzzi and the saunas are an amazing expirience to relax before having The Fun. Perfect heating temperature all around the complex.
3.- The service is very attemptive and they can understand English, Bob is really fluent and if you talk to him he will make sure to have another satisfied customer (from the other service do not expect much English insight, but they absolutely make sure to serve your needs, as Apple put it, they come from the high-end hospitality business and I can agree on that).
4.- The rooms are spacious, there is chill out music (if not just ask for it), and very well lighted with mirrors on the walls for more insight on what's going on ;)

1.- In my case, the first time, 7.30pm during the week there were 10 girls or so and the second time, 8pm weekend there were around 20 (but as the manager pointed out, some came from other saunas). The first time I was with one and the second with her and another girl. Both services were completely amazing. The repeated girl was 118 and the other... a petite one (sorry I can't remember now). About the line up... he also told me that there would be more girls, and the second time there were, but I would not consider all of them "A plus", some were really hot, do not take me wrong, but there were a few which were definetely not "A plus" but since this is pretty personal I will leave it for you to see.
2.- The massage was really good, I also agree that they had been trained for it, although I would point out the lack of abundand oil, it was just an acceptable quantity but not sleppery as I like it. I would try to make myself understand to put more next time, I donīt think it will be very difficult ( though my mandarin is basic).
3.- Really complete and perfect service with BBBJ and everything Apple stated, both were PROS (as highly professionals). Really good recomendations from the manager, although I always get impulsive and pick up what I feel like, they are always appreciated and pondered.
Well, I have to rank this place high, I will post more on its development since is pretty new but I think they will keep on going without screwing it all off. There is a deep sense and focus -which is what other places should do- on customer satisfaction and cleanness,for me two major points to be considered. Another point I would stress and hopefully it will not change is the PRICE/QUALITY/SERVICE ratio, which is pretty good for me, and that is a point that concerns me a lot since I HATE not to pay for what I think stuff is worthed (not the case!)
I strongly recommend it and we should keep and eye on the introduction of new hotties to this place. To finish with the car paralelism I will say it is the Lamborghini of Shanghai (easy huh :D)

The facilities aren't as good as Le Yuan, but the service is excellent. You go in and they show you to the room. The music isn't loud at all and it was really quite nice and quiet--perfect for enjoying total attention from the masseuse. There is no shower in the room, but you can rinse in the common shower. Then it's onto the fairly standard treatment. The difference is that I really got on well with the girl, her tone of voice, the way she took time to do everything. She seemed like she was really wanting me to enjoy it. I speak good Chinese so we kept up a nice conversation. She didn't abandon me in the room at any time to "heat up towels" or anything like that which has happened to me at Peacock. She was totally concentrating on making sure I had a most xcellent HE massage. I didn; t get any licks or kisses, but that probably comes with familiarity. And yes there is a free hour long foot massage thrown in afterwards. If you're not up for a big sauna, what else do you want for RMB228?
