I have been in HK 1 year now and I haven't had a free lancer since the first month from my arrival. It's just that it seemed a lot easier and convenient to build a little ack book with go go girl names and then put them on a roster. This seemed perfect until a couple of weeks back I met a girl in Neptune called Beem (I think) from Bangkok. Was in town last weekend for the rugby and had two great nights in Wan Chai. Started at Neptune on Friday night. I had read so much about this place and it was all true! Met a Filipino freelancer called Evenlyn. Long black hair, great ass in jeans, etc. Took her back to my room after drinking a lot of booze with her as we bar hopped for a few hours. The girl hooks up with someone, a "boyfriend", who decides to support her while she is in HK. These guys give them an allowance so that they don't have to work. But then on the nights when he is unavailable, they get board so go hang out with their friends in Neptune or Laguna.

Also, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, the domestic helpers are out in force. 1) Most are just out for a good time, hang with their friends and would love to meet a nice guy. 2) Many have regular off-day boyfriends. 3) A few want to augment their HK$3,600 monthly salaries by pulling a punter. Hunting the good time girls is a great way to kill an afternoon. If you run into one with a boyfriend you will get the same reaction, and you might be as surprised, as with your Thai lady. To be honest, I don't know how the third type, the working girls, make any money on Saturday or Sunday afternoons.

Fortunately for the rest of us, when you run into one with a boyfriend in Wanchai there is always another beauty, "plan B", standing next to her.

Not all girls who hang out in Laguna/Neptune/Fenwicks are WG. I have met one who wasn't, my friend also did. They go there to have fun, some of them hope to meet a guy but not for one night stand.

I have recently spoken to few local Hong Kong girls, who actually go to WC bars for fun only. The girl I recently met goes with her friends to "Dask to Dawn", which is one of the mongering spots. They go there just to have fun, hoping to meet a decent gweilo. Decent gweilo in Hong Kong. Isn't that an oxymoron?

If you go to Laguna, Boracay, Neptune or Makati on any Saturday or Sunday days and evenings probably 2/3s of the girls are not working. (Fenwicks will be pretty empty.) They are mostly domestics on their day off. They want a good time with their friends, to meet up with the boy friends and, if lucky, meet a nice guy.

Of the remaining third a minority are working and the rest could go either way. I am leaving out the lesbians, some of whom also go both ways and can be an interesting time.

And yes, on week nights there are lots of bars where many if not most of the girls are not working, but are locals out for a good time. This is true of most of the bars in LKF and the non-girly bars at street level on Lockhart and Jaffee Roads. Lots of these bars offer free drinks for the girls and munchies on Wednesday and Thursday, and get huge crowds. There will also be Western women in the crowd. Most of the guys in these bars are out for a good time with their mates, not looking for P4P. That being said, there are working girls in there too. But generally a bit older and more experienced than the tourist girls in Fenwick and Neptune.

It seems like having fun in Wan Chai is not only about P4P. I was under different impression, especially after mentioning Wan Chai when talking to my local friends, I immediately get "the look" followed by "what where you doing in Wan Chai"? Nobody seems to have a problem when I mentioned I visited Lan Kwai Fong.

Few of the working girls mentioned to me that on weekends, they dress casual and go to Lan Kwai Fong just to have fun. Always keeping their eyes opened to meet a "nice guy".

A month later she had a job in the airport, not in the game anymore, but I already knew her. So I saw her every now and then (No more money involved). Now she lost her job and is likely to be in the game again. They all need money, must likely for the sick water buffalo at home.

The sad fact is that the " hard " girls see the guys as a job: a sort of walking ATM that spits out money if they push (pull) the correct knobs.

The " soft" girls are just a bit inexperienced but are en route to being "hard" whether they like it or not.

A good tip is to see how many phones they have. Why does anyone need more than one phone? Unless to avoid answering with the wrong name (! )

If you think back about the frequency of these events (sick father / buffalo, hurricane blown down village) you will probably be able to see a pattern.

But a lot of DHs have curfew around 8 or 9 depending on when they work, so they tend to clear out around then and the pros tend to move in.
