Otherwice Bangkok blasts and gets better and better even if someone try to downgrade it. For me the freelancemarket is blooming (yes I did encounter one 8 rate in Biergarden and prices are the same as for 5-7 years ago. It is not all about the Go Go and Bargirls sir Bangkok has a lot to offer at cheap prices.

Yesterday evening had an exceptionally bad traffic jam reported to be in nearly all areas. Not sure why other than Friday night. I had to dump a taxi and switch to underground and sky train. Try arriving early morning or very late Sunday and your taxi might take little more than 30 mins. I will fly out on a Sunday evening (no hassles).
Although not normally recommended, you could take the new train service from the airport to Makkasan and then get a Tuk Tuk from there. Normally I would not take Tuk Tuk unless traffic exceptionally bad.
