(and yeah, why don't we tip the auto mechanic, the guy or gal that helps us try on several pairs of shoes in a shoe store, etc). Well, maybe some of these guys will soon start tipping the ATM machine too haha. In the future when we are all serviced by robots? LOL.

I didn't feel like the $90 paid in total was a ripoff, she did put in her best effort, but I'll tip less next time.

To answer your question why tip the waiter. They will spit in your food next time if you don't or serve you last, make you wait longer to take your order, etc. Why don't we do the same with the dentist? I know how much he's getting from the fee paid (most of it), with the waiter I don't know, he could be getting 20% or 0, some of them live entirely on tips.

And we don't tip for airplane food because it's always disgusting slop.

That should be the concern of the employer, not the customer. You do not walk into other businesses and tell the owner that you will pay his employees. You are only concerned with paying for what you are buying and the owner should be concerned about paying his employees.

OK not every waiter will spit in your food if you don't tip, but it does happen, what is more common is to serve non-tipping customer last, delay to take their order, be rude to them. So if I am planning to return to the establishment for another meal, I will tip. If you do not plan to return, you can tip zero with no bad consequence to you.

Although these days in the tourist areas, many waitresses want / expect a tip. I see the waitresses frown when the customer doesn't leave a tip at the go-go bars.

Will be flying into Bangkok next week for a few days. I've made a few trips before but was considering exploring Pattaya this time. Have heard that there's at least passable scuba diving and that the nightlife might be a nice change up from Bangkok.

1) Anyone here done any diving (in the water, not on the girls!) in Pattaya? Worth it?

2) Given the timing, any concerns for next week with respect to the ASEAN naval exercise or what have you? I don't usually go with FL, prefer higher-end options.

3) I realize this has been a topic of much discussion, but general thoughts on BKK vs. Pattaya?

Don't over tip, this is NOT the West. And look at your bill, some places include a 10% service charge.

During the night, didn't see SWs on the beach side of Beach Road. There were some on the city side of Beach Road. It seems there weren't as many as previous years. One good thing (IMO, LOL!) is that I didn't see any ladyboys on Beach Road. But they still are there on Walking Street.

During the daytime, observed a few SWs on Beach Road, but definitely not as many as previous years.

During the nighttime, there were several female SWs on Walking Street, next to the ladyboys.

A good bar for groping is Crazy House go-go on Walking Street. They also have one of the best happy hour specials for draft beer. 49 Baht for a small (maybe 8 ounces?) draft beer before 10 PM. Then it goes to 90 Baht.

They have 3 types of dancers: naked, topless, and bikinis. All the naked dancers will allow good, fun groping. Some of the topless and bikinis dancers will also allow groping. All for a 150 baht ladydrink, not that 2 ladydrink "tequila and coke" crap you get at the Crazy House go-go in Bangkok.

Girls are decent. IMO, the top girls weren't as cute as the top girls at the Crazy House in Bangkok. None of the girls seem to have breast enhancements.

Hint: buy the girls the ladydrink just after she finishes her dance set. Then you should get the entire 15 or 20 minutes of her off time for groping.
