If MDE is new and you have none to very little spanish than M makes it less frustrating. If you want to stay where locals stay and can speak decent spanish with minimal assistance than you can stay here. M like all others run by gringos rake the gringos because they know they can. I've noticed that most airbnb rates have gone up since I was last there because they know they can get that rate from gringos and make a decent profit.

The place I stay across the street from Normandia is only $11.60.

Here is the objective explanation. Think of any big city you know. Now think of an upscale section of that city (Beverly Hills, Park Avenue New York, Lakeshore Drive Chicago, Mayfair London). Think of the lower end neighborhoods of those same cities (South Central, South Bronx New York, Southside Chicago, East End London). The difference in lodging costs and distance between the high and low end neighborhoods of those cities is similar to the difference between Poblado (gringo hotel) and Centro. That is why mansion cost so much more than Normandia, there is the additional cost of paying what the owners know you can afford.

I hang there, hunt there, enjoy the time there in Centro, but damn it's nice to get out of there and enjoy a nicer hotel in a more relaxed and tranquil area.

For me anyway, I usually stay in the Laureles / el Estadio area, which is close by, but way more relaxed, and quiet.

To each their own of course.

I decided to extend my Colombia trip by several days because really want to see the country, That means Medellin, then Leticia and now Choco. From what I have read Choco is where most Black Colombians live. But I have not seen anything on the boards about this region. It has to be somewhat beautiful given it borders on the Pacific Ocean. I even learned a women named Vanessa Mendoza was Miss Colombia at one time and she is from that region. If they all look like here where do I sign up?

Anyone been there or heard anything about it?

Get a chicas fb info there, friend her, then find another chica, friend her, and then start friending their friends (especially if you start to recognize other girls from the mansion showing up in their friends list). It will go better if you ask for this info after you session with her though, as she probably will be more inclined to give it to you as opposed to some rando, LOL.
