I think consensus for those visiting say TT exchange offers the best rates for exchange. Here's one of the TT stores with live updates on rates. As we all know, even with TT not all have the same exchange rates. Try staying away from tourist areas like Walking Street, LK Metro, Central Festival, etc.

Instead, I used my Fidelity ATM card. The exchange rate is the same as used by the New York Stock Exchange (posted at [URL]XE.com[/URL]) and the ATM fee is reimbursed by Fidelity. This gives you about 0. 5 baht per dollar better than the best exchange place. I checked the details of transactions when I got home, it worked perfectly.
I'm told that Schwabb has a similar deal with their ATM card.
My second trip to Thailand I brought very little USA cash, none of it got used.

The most I have ever paid anytime is 1500 LT, and I can count on one hand the times I have done that. Lately I have been giving chicks 1200. The other day I was telling my friends that I gave the chick 1100 and they said fuck that. 1000 only!
I will go in and get a chick's Line and have her come when she is not working. The chick that came over from LK Metro the other night; one of the first things she said when she walked in was you are smart; you do not pay barfine. (I went back to her gogo the other night. When I first got my place here I opened a bank account so I could bring the cash, exchange it, and put it into my account to pinch off. Since I got Charles Schwab with the ATM fee reimbursement, I think 3 years back, I never really bring cash or use my Thai bank account anymore.

With their fee reimbursement you just can't beat it. But for those without the fee reimbursing cards I would find just look at a couple of exchanges near your hotel and select the best one. And keep using that exchange. The truth is that rates at most of these places are very similar. It doesn't make sense to waste a lot of time and energy checking out 10 different currency exchanges. Just avoid the airport exchanges and you can change money just about anywhere.
When I visit Thailand I take some traveler checks with me for emergencies. My bank issues them for free. Thailand is one of the few traveler check friendly countries now.

Go to Crazy Horse in Soi Cowboy spend a little on drinks with the better looking girls maybe barfine, Soi 11 in Bangkok has best deal and looking massage girls got to look in side alleys before ambassador hotel. Freelancers at Soi 4, Soi 7 Beer bar Try out the various gogos. Go to club areas on soi 11 and pick up drunk party girl (warning this is addictive be careful).
In Pattaya checkout massage street, Windmill Agogo on WS and others try freelance bars / clubs. Lots of girls out looking around 3 am+. I posted the information because most of us are not from the USA. I have Charles schwab in my country but still can't get that deal since I am not a resident of the USA.
Spot on! This comment needs to be taken with a grain of salt, especially by short term tourists and in general by anyone who is not a resident or frequent visitor of Pattaya.
Anyone who believes otherwise will be in for a rude shock. The '5 k for LT is too much' statement gives a false impression that stunners can be had for 2. 5-3 k for LT. The caveat is only by regulars who can avoid bar fines.
1. Through contacts developed over a period of time.
2. Getting private contact details like line ID and using the info at a later time.
3. Willing to wait till that stunner does not find a better deal for the night and the gogo closes to avoid barfine.
4. Hit the discos late.
For a tourist who is in Pats for a few days, time is of the essence and the quickest way to find hot girls is a jaunt to the gogos and guess what? LT at a gogo bar incl barfine for a looker is atleast 6 k if not more. If you play the waiting game then you will be left holding the short end of the stick.
