I was thinking on the hotel front to book my first night at the hotel I mentioned for 35 and see if they are girl friendly. If not, I can call the poplado rentals and look at the apartments while I'm there so I know what I'm getting. Its hard to beat 35 a night free breakfast and maid service everyday at a hotel.

I am going to Colombia for the first time in January 2018. I've already booked my flight but have not booked anywhere to stay yet. I am going solo and will be in Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena. I can't decide if I should get a hotel room or a place on Airbnb. Which would be more chica friendly? Any particular areas in the 3 cities that are better to stay at? I prefer to stay in areas that are safe and near nightlife. I'm looking for recommendations.

I have been to the Del Rey in San Jose, CR many times, and also the Marriott in Panama City. Any places like that in Colombia?

If you want to be able to have girls come and go with no problem and you want to be near casas and pay about $35/ night, I think your best bet is the Hotel Nutibara or someplace like it (there are several). You have to be careful to avoid lonely streets after dark (always a good idea) but the front desk will take care of most of the security for you. That's the best recommendation I can make.

Maybe you want to stay at the Mansion a night or two to convince yourself it's ok to stay somewhere else? I ask this because I've seen an irrational (for me at least) connection with the place with guys who badmouth it heavily but refuse to stay anywhere else.

You should not take the train if going to the strip clubs, because you should not walk from the train station to the clubs at night. The train fare is less than $1. For about $1. 50, you can go to a massage parlor and return to where you are staying.

I have read some hotel reviews that indicate the metro train is noisy. They are electric trains, make very little noise.

I've seen locals come and drink with the girls but as soon as new clients enter, they all go to the room in the back and do their line ups. I've also seen couple of buddies just hang out with the girls before going and after with them at the bar.

There are other safe areas, Laureles-Estadio and Envigado are two. Laureles-Estadio is probably better for you because it is closer to downtown and to where many of the chicas live.

Some of the hotels, and airbnb's, refuse to allow anyone into the room / apartment unless they are a registered guest. In those places, forget about taking your "date" to your room. Before making a reservation, always ask if they allow you to have guests and if there is a charge for guests. Some places that allow guests will request that they dress conservatively.

As others have replied, your best bet is probably an apartment. If you use common sense, and don't pick up street walkers, security is no more of an issue than any other place you rent. You can find airbnb apartments for around $40.

This is all true. It's also not unusual to share the bar with a uniformed policeman enjoying a soft drink and chatting with the lady administrator. Girls at all the places are hit and miss but Zandaly's rooms and linen are of better than average quality, compared to the lower end room / linen quality of a place like Aiffe.

I noticed when I click on the links that some of them deactivated fb, others changed their names around. It is important we keep the guys on the board safe, especially some first timers which may find themselves in the company of potential trouble.

I'm very rarely bored while traveling. Even in airports I enjoy the watching and interacting with people from different backgrounds. Interesting people have varied interests. Beyond Guatape and Pablo Escobar's grave for example, there are several worthwhile museums in Medellin along with textile shops, restaurants and a long list of other things like the alliance Francaise where you can meet bright an inquisitive women. I think the most basic social skills can improve sessions with providers, but these are only my opinions.

I had not been to New Life in several months. The other day I stopped in and noticed the attached sign posted on all the entrance and exit doors and under glass on every single waiting room table. Apparently these guys have been causing even more trouble recently. The guy is identified as the gang's ringleader. The sign describes the same basic scam as what's been reported here. As I mentioned, I've seen these guys for years and I've seen warnings posted about them at places besides New Life. The New Life sign specifically mentions the gang using illegal age workers as an excuse to engage with customers. New Life also vehemently denies the claim.

They pretend to be police, and start asking questions. At some point they will ask to see your money to check for counterfeit bills. They may also ask to see phone or credit cards. By the time you realize you've been scammed your money and whatever else you had is long gone.

There are things you can do to avoid being a victim. The easiest is taxi in, taxi out. Of course if you're hitting 5 casas to find the right chica, this isn't convenient. Traveling in groups will also reduce your risk.

If you are going solo, look first. Before you step into the street and start walking, look both ways. Anyone loitering nearby? If so, step back inside and call a taxi. When you do step outside, walk with a purpose. If you make a note of open businesses on your way in, head for the closest. If someone tries to stop you, say "no gracias" and keep moving towards the next business.

The only way this scam works is if they can keep you off balance. When you don't respond the way they expect, it puts them off balance. Every step you take away from their chosen spot, moves you farther away from danger. If weapons come out, give them what you have and get out of there. Otherwise just keep moving towards that next open business.
