Initially I used a repellent on my arms and legs, but stopped doing it as it seemed really silly. Perhaps it is different when you go into the jungle (and I do not mean the jungle of Nana or Soi Cowboy).

Laos and Cambodia are quite different: there I always wear long trousers and long sleeved shirts in the evening or I get eaten alive.

Perhaps Thailand and BKK in particular is so polluted that no mosquito can survive. :)

However, it is a risk outside of BKK. One of my GF's staff members came down with it right after Songkran. He contracted it upcountry when visiting family, and was hospitalized in BKK.

So, if you'll be staying in BKK, don't worry. If you're going to remote parts, long sleeves, long pants and Off are recommended.
