They have cabs waiting outside the club that know the girls, and vice versa. This is a smart way to protect the girls. I found out later that the same cabbie came to pick her up in the morning. The cab to downtown was ridculously overpriced at $10 but at this point that's a mere drop in the bucket, right? That money probably also covers her ride home, so we can take comfort in that.
I'll take a moment to give a shout-out to my hotel. Hotel Texaco, on Calle 31 between Avenida Cuba & Peru. I'm traveling on a budget these days, so I welcome places that are reasonably priced. $22/night, includes cable TV (w/ a porn channel, if that matters to you), clean bathroom, A/C. It's not luxury, but totally fine. Last week I stayed in Hotel Arrenciba (sp? ) a couple of blocks away, and it was super clean and modern for just $30/night. The area is full of them, you just have to pick a couple to look in. Oh, and all these places are friendly to "guests". They are quite used to it. In fact, I saw boxes of condoms by the front desk at two of them!
Anyway. We get settled in the room, and she is fun and frisky. She hasn't had sex since breaking up with her boyfriend a month ago (hard to believe, but I did. This chick is sincere if nothing else. She's also very selective.) She told me her real name (which I won't repeat here out of respect) and we chatted a bit.
