I've never met Rick, but according to most people on this board he is a "great guy" even though it turns out he conned hundreds of thousands of dollars from folks.

I've never met Bernie Madoff, but I'm sure there are a bunch of folks that would tell you what a "great guy" he is even though he swindled people for billions.

Shit, I'm sure there were a bunch of women who would tell you how charming Ted Bundy was, or a professor who would tell you that Ted Kaczynski was his brightest pupil (has an IQ of 167).

What's the common theme among all of them? They all turned out to be pieces of shit. I know that is hard for some of you that were friends of Rick, but it's still the truth just the same.

And the bigger truth? The are probably hundreds of other in the DR that fled their home country after doing some shady shit, taking advantage of the DR's weak extradition laws, hiding in plain sight!

I knew Rick a bit and he was always a good guy with all of us. He did something wrong and will pay for it. We all make mistakes but rarely are these publicly revealed. 800 k is a tempting target. I would do 3 years for that kind of pay off. Those of you with out sin throw your stones.

You and the others that condone it have, sorry to say, a broken moral compass. And by the way the victim was not a big corporation but a family business.

In my opinion there is nothing worse than a thief. I would never knowingly be friends with or do business with one. And OldKool, stealing $880 K is NOT a mistake. And it doesn't matter who he stole it from either, a person, a business, the government, it's all the same.

I built a big company once by working 70+ hours a week for 25 years, so it's okay to steal $800 K from me? What the hell is wrong with you? It's very sad that there are people in this world that think like you do.

Sosua vs. Amsterdam can't be measured because of the sheer size of Amsterdam, the location, history, etc. They are two opposites. I'd say a closer comparison would be another island in the Caribbean (Curacao, SXM, etc.) or a place like Jaco in Costa Rica. Also there are plenty of conservatives in Netherlands who are opposed to the activities that take place in Amsterdam. The RLD is actually getting smaller every year from what I have observed, many of the rooms that you pass by are being closed. While the overall attitude in the Netherlands (and in Europe in general) is far more liberal towards prostitution there are still plenty of conservatives who would rather see everything disappear.

Sosua is also known for its beach, which is actually a pretty decent beach (comparing it to beaches in the USA East Coast). Not to mention the [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord118][CodeWord118][/url] activities. There are plenty of families and groups of friends that travel to Sosua during weekends or national holidays for the beach. Prostitution in DR is legal, but is just more evident in Sosua as compared to other cities. Some people like to think that Sosua is solely known for the chicas and bars on Pedro Clisante, but it's not a town that has absolutely nothing else going for it. However, happy to admit I visit Sosua for pretty much one thing only. Pussy Playa.

You'd do 3 years in prison for 800 k? I think that's crazy, but to each his own.

As for Rick, I wouldn't do business with him or any proven thief. I stayed in his Mary Rose apartments once and it's a decent place, but I wouldn't stay there again knowing this.

No I'm not remotely close to perfect. But you never want to depend on a thief, regardless of who they've stolen from. If they can justify stealing from someone else, they can justify stealing from you.

Pussy Playa.[/QUOTE]I lived in Puerto Plata for almost 5 months this past year and this year coming I will live in Sosua for three to six months and the main reason for the move is the beach and everything being within walking distance or short, not so dangerous moto ride, things being spread out in Pto Pta makes for some more dangerous moto rides or taking taxis which adds up over a month. I spend very little time at home, I like to go out for a drink or eat almost every day and I think I'll be better off in Sosua, being close to all the girls is not important to me because I will continue to source them from Puerto Plata.

Moral compass? You realize we are here to learn about partaking in sexual activities with women for compensation, right? There are also people here who break the "moral compass". Whether it's by not paying chicas (whether it's they weren't satisfied), have sex with girls not of a legal age, having sex with multiple girls while knowing they have a disease etc. This hobby was not meant for those that put much importance on following a "moral compass".

But you keep following that "moral compass" of yours. .

Chances are, that same company has been guilty of this before, especially if they work on government contracts. I've seen plenty of it, it's almost a requirement for any company who gets most of their business from government contracts. Sadly, the rule in business today is everything you can get away with and just a little bit more. At one job, which was contracted to the Department of Defense, each project I completed was billed at 135 hours of my time, plus 90 hours of a word Processors time. The average project took me 6 to 10 hours plus 2 to 4 hours for word processing. Our little office did about 2 of these projects every week.

What he did was wrong, but I believe he was just following an example he had seen before.
