That is what I meant, although porn may not be a rep of an entire society. If you are not Indian it is hard to understand them. There is a really large Indian community where I am, the women are so emotionally distant I learned to block them off my mind like they don't exist when I am out and about.

I've never had this happen to me so I don't know the procedure, but I guess they have to inform you how to get your car back and how much the fine is, it's not $1,500 USD, it has to be in pesos because they don't take dollars at the government cashier were you would have to pay the fine, and it's a lot less than $1,500 USD.
From there you take a taxi to wherever you want to go and pick up your car the next day, oh! If its a weekend you have to wait until Monday morning.

I wouldn't think it would be different from other days.

The fine pencils out to be a bit over $600, plus I suspect whatever charges they have to retrieve your impounded car. I suppose they might send you home on foot, but I suspect not, at least at the alcoholmetros. I have a good friend who was out with amigos. The driver was drunk. They stopped to sleep it off a bit when a cop rolled up behind them and carted everybody off to jail. They kicked her loose the next day. So, jail may be a threat, but it's not a 100% idle threat.
Is avoiding a night in a Tijuana jail, $600 in fines, and wading through the Mexican bureaucracy to get your car worth $1,500? Dunno. But it's good food for thought should one decide to drive drunk. I will say that it seems that the Mexicans may punish you for DUI, but they aren't out to completely ruin your life as the gov't is in Cali.

I remember reading about the new fine for a DUI in Tijuana being about 20,000 pesos.
