I just returned from a couple of nonPI Asian countries and I was ready to kill by the time I left. All petty shit. All 1st world problems. And yes, I should have known better or not gone at all. But the 100 little fuckups a day drove me nuts.

Having said that, will I be back? Sure. 👍.

The major export earner for the Philippines is remittances from OFWs. Cheap modern day slaves sent to Singapore, Hong Kong and the Middle East to do menial tasks that no one else wants to do. Singaporean women have outsourced the cleaning of their kids' bottoms to a bunch of Filipinas so they can go and buy more bags from the Chanel boutique on Orchard.

Second biggest earner is BPO, where college graduates sit in buildings in front of a screen all day trying to resolve technical issues for millions of wealthy westerners around the world.

Well, it's not as if Filipinos are ever going to invent anything to manufacture their way out of poverty.

Foreign companies from countries in the west have a real problem now investing in the Philippines with the more rigid enforcement of Foreign Corrupt Practises Act (or equivalent). A colleague of mine said that many Filipino mayors and senior government officials simply don't understand why a publicly traded company from the US, Australia or UK can't just wire $50 million into their personal accounts. He said they would rather just kill a project than compromise with a western company. This may mean that thousands of Filipinos miss out on job opportunities and the country forgoes essential infrastructure creation. Only the Chinese and Koreans can readily invest in the Philippines as their anti-corruption measures in their countries are quite flexible.

If you drill down you will find that most are working for boiler room like operations, cold calling in attempts to sell dodgy credit cards, insurance, phone plans investments and the like.

These will never go away, as Filipinas love easy money and there is no shortage of foreign suckers seeking sex, love, affection, and validation. The Filipinas who are exceptional liars and chameleons earn the most foreign income for their Filipino boyfriends / husbands and their deadbeat family members.

One of them was that it has the largest amount of overseas workers. 11%. It also said that it had more English speakers than the UK. In addition, Manila is the largest Metro area in the world with 25 million people. At only 16 square miles, Manila has over 100,000 people per square mile.

The few guys I know here who married Filipinas are all happily married and none of them support their wives' families. Perhaps they're the lucky few. After talking to the Filipina munchkin I just spent two weeks with for the first 5 minutes, I knew she'd be one of those potential problem wives who'd want her hubby to support her family in the province. I'm not about to fall for that crap.

I will probably return to the Phils at some point but strictly for mongering purposes.
