180 day tourist visa (FMM)
1.Mexican Tourist Card (FMM). (180 days stay)
The tourist card is free if your stay in Mexico is 7 days or less and you are traveling by land into Baja (see below). Otherwise, the card which you can get right in the immigration desk if you walk in, or past the check point in an office if you drive in, costs $717.00 pesos (appx USA $43) and will be issued for up to 180 days.
However, the official note is that they say you should return the FMM everytime you leave Mx. My unofficial understanding is that you can use it to return into Mexico via Tijuana as long as it has not expired. I did it multiple times before, (Others please comment on this part).
I, too, have used the 180 day visa to enter Mexico multiple times, without returning it upon exit. But I had recently seen posts in the forum about this being disallowed. So, last week when I got my latest visa I specifically asked the immigration officer whether it could be used to enter multiple times within the 180 days, and he said yes. Of course, this is Mexico, so we'll see what happens when I try to use it to re-enter, LOL. Where did the "official" info come from that you're supposed to return the visa when you leave Mexico?
