Trip Notes
Returned from another trip to Tijuana 10 days ago. Some random, very general notes:
1) Have noticed in recent trips that they are stricter about checking bags walking into Mexico from the US. I always have a luggage bag and a backpack when I cross and the past 4 times or so customs has stopped me to search both bags after my bags go through the screening machine. In the past my bags would usually not get searched, I'd just put my bags through screening, grab them, and then proceed outside towards the taxi area.
2) A couple weeks ago noticed much more construction on Coahuilia in front of HK and Adelitas than even the last time I was here in mid-September. The construction work goes down much of the road and there's similar work being done on other streets in and around Zona Norte. A chica tells me it's work they're doing to repair Tijuana's sewage system.
3) Checked into Cascadas and was given an orange wristband to identify that I was a hotel guest. First time in all my years going to HK that I've seen them give out wristbands other than those white wristbands they typically give out. Am curious why they changed it, though the Hong Kong / Cascadas branding on the orange wristbands is much less visible than it is on the white ones, which may be appealing to some.
4) Used the taxi de ruta to go to Rosarito the 2nd day I was there. Went to an Argentinian steakhouse downtown called Patagonia 1829 which is a small, but charming and very solid steakhouse (might put a short review here later). Will probably go back at some point. Semi-wild to me that the taxi de ruta fare is still only 22.5 pesos to Rosarito (they charge $1. 50 if paying in US dollars so better to pay pesos since that's only $1. 10 at the current exchange rate). I think that was the price pre-COVID so am surprised there hasn't been an inflation adjustment. Some decent bars down in Rosarito (regular, not chica bars) and the beach had a pretty lively atmosphere when I was down there. Maybe too cold to go now, was still hitting 70's when I was there a couple weeks ago.
5) Take this with a huge grain of salt, but some HK chicas are telling me they've recently been doing work inside Adelitas in anticipation of hopefully opening at some point next year.
6) Anyone know Megan from Acapulco? Long-time, older chica who's been working at HK for 18 years or so. Curly hair, big teeth, dances on stage a lot during the night shift. I see her pretty much every time I go to HK during the night shift. Didn't take her arriba but had a couple of drinks and nice conversation with her. Nice chica.
7) Met up with one of my regular HK chicas off-shift at Chicago the day I checked out of Cascadas, a few hours before my flight home. Since I'd just checked out she took me to a place nearby (I think in the alley) where you could grab a 30 minute room for only $6. Wish I could remember exactly where the place was, I only remember walking up some stairs to get to the room (was a bit drunk at the time). But I'll say I was shocked how clean the room was given the $6 price point. And I think they only charge $45 or $50 for the whole night. I'd actually consider staying there if they keep jacking the Cascadas prices up, only thing though is the room didn't have a TV.
8) The channel's been there for years but when I was in my room at Cascadas I got to thinking about the one channel they always have on the TV with a feed showing the HK club. It's not a live feed but I guess I wonder how old the feed is. I think it would actually be cool if the TVs had a 24/7 live feed into HK.
I, too, have used the 180 day visa to enter Mexico multiple times, without returning it upon exit. But I had recently seen posts in the forum about this being disallowed. So, last week when I got my latest visa I specifically asked the immigration officer whether it could be used to enter multiple times within the 180 days, and he said yes. Of course, this is Mexico, so we'll see what happens when I try to use it to re-enter, LOL. Where did the "official" info come from that you're supposed to return the visa when you leave Mexico?
I've multiple times in the past been able to use the 7-day FMM card to re-enter Mexico (on foot) without returning it on exit. I would just go through the Mexican Nationals line (even though it's obvious just by looking at me I'm not from Mexico), show them my passport and stamped FMM card, and they would just waive me through if I was still within my 7-day period. Never had issues with that in the past. But the last time I tried it was this past Mexican Independence Day weekend (mid-September). Showed them my FMM card but the customs official took it and said I had to go to the Foreigners like to re-apply for another card. Possible that was just a one-off and they were maybe just being super strict that weekend because it was a holiday.
Returned from another trip to Tijuana 10 days ago. Some random, very general notes:.
No trip to La Cueva? LOL.
No trip to La Cueva? LOL.
LOL, no. Mentioned in a previous post that multiple of my regular chicas, including the one that was working at La Cueva regularly, were kind of adamant that I not go there when I brought up the possibility of me going to them, basically saying they felt it was too dangerous given the recent activities. The chica I know that was working at La Cueva says she'll no longer be working there and will find another place to work when she returns to Tijuana (she lives in Guadalajara most of the year). Also I'd read before going on this trip that authorities recently shut down La Cueva for similar reasons as to why Adelitas is currently shut down. So La Cueva wasn't even on my radar this trip.

Actually that post that Nothing made he misunderstood the news and they were shut down for minors being clients in the bar not for what AB did. Also they are back open because they had another guy killed in the parking lot just a few weeks ago.
BTW, I hope to hear a more detailed report on your Rosarito trip.

Barbershop tip
These I get my haircut in Tijuana when I need to. I always go. To this one barber that located on the east side of Constitution. There is no name. But the fronos white and there is a tree painted barber stripes on on it. The owners name is Fabricio. They do a good job and they are friendly as well. It is also the cheapest barber in the area as well.

A lot depends on what the mood the Mexican immigration officers are in. The Mexican immigration officer told me that they. Nlrmal FMM. Is only good for one day.

US Customs Entrainment
If you have a minor outstanding warrant for missing a court appearance in another US State will that flag US customs officials when you cross back to the US?

Warrant
If you have a minor outstanding warrant for missing a court appearance in another US State will that flag US customs officials when you cross back to the US?
Not sure how severe the warrant has to be for them to apprehend you at the border. I know once I was pulled into secondary because some guy with my same name had a warrant for his arrest. Luckily the CBP officer realized it wasn't me so I was free to go.
-
It is probably not worth the risk. Usually the higher up I govt the more strict they are. Missing a court date is simply a bench warrant. Chances are the judge will give a additional fine. If your cas is more serious than you should get a attorney. He can negotiate with the prosecutor.
If you have a minor outstanding warrant for missing a court appearance in another US State will that flag US customs officials when you cross back to the US?
If the bench warrant for FTA is still active, it will show up when they scan your passport during re-entry to the US. Whether or not they call the local police to take you to jail is another matter. If the warrant is for San Diego county or LA county, you'll likely be held until somebody comes to pick you up. If the warrant is issued out of Minnesota, it's likely they won't hold you since nobody from Minnesota will go to Tijuana for a relatively minor warrant.

She reported a domestic violence situation that occurred and she was the victim but didn't show up for the court case to testify. She said she called to straighten it out but they are keeping the warrant active.

Parking
Does anyone have any good parking option / tips in San Ysidro? We parked at Border Station, got there Sunday, left Tuesday morning it was $85, that's BS.

Try Trolley parking
Does anyone have any good parking option / tips in San Ysidro? We parked at Border Station, got there Sunday, left Tuesday morning it was $85, that's BS.
I've used trolley parking in the past. It was either the Palomar or Palm stop. Even though it's 24 hour parking (free), people have reported they've left the car for 48 hours without issue. Then I hop on the Trolley. Since it's only a couple stops, I don't even bother with a Trolley ticket. I probably wouldn't park a nice car in either place though.

As others mentioned you could try the trolley park, if you feel comfortable, not _supposed_ to park there for days but I think can get away with 2 days, more I'd be wary. Otherwise can try the swap meet parking lot, put in 'carolin shoes' as GPS destination and it will get you there (the paid lot is right next to it, can't miss it). This lot operates in 24 hour blocks and is $15 per 24 hours.
