Man I hope this isn't true but I got it from a very reliable source.

There's an asian monger who is consistently down in the zona. He blows hundreds, if not, thousands of dollars each week. I'm sure we have all unknowingly seen him around. He must either not have to pay rent or got a huge inheritance considering all the money he pisses away. Anyway, he recently got a new HK "novia" not too long ago. Fast forward to a few days ago and he started getting texts and phone calls saying his "novia" had been kidnapped, asking for a ransom. My source forwarded me all the texts and pictures.

The idiot sent the people threatening to hurt her $3,000USD. He was assured she would be let go but didn't hear anything back for a couple of days. Turns out another chica friend of his caught his "novia" partying with some guys at a bar in Revolucion within that time frame and sent him the pictures. He was in disbelief and blocked every chica on his contact list. Vows to never return to the zona. But knowing this guy, he'll be back before the end of the year for sure. He won’t be able to stay away.

Some years ago that was a VERY prevalent scam. These scammers would get ahold of some person's cell number (usually a Mexican person because of large families) and start sending texts that "Cousin Itt" has been kidnapped, send money. It got to the point that the Spanish language newspapers were printing articles about what to do if you got one of these messages.

This guy got what he deserved. Sorry, but that's the way it is. A fool and his money.

It is always a mistake to let yourself get financially involved with the girls. Always remember that they doing this for the money. Personally my girl has a daughter & I bring her presents I will sometimes come sooner if she needs money. But I do not give her any other money. The good thing is that she never asks for money. The WORST thing you can do in Mexico is flaunt your lavish lifestyle, especially if you are there all the time, did he forget who runs these places? He may as well have just painted a "rob me" target on his back. This happens a lot here in Vegas, not the kidnapping scam, but idiots that flash their cash wearing 60 k watches, bring two women to the room then wake up the next morning with 5 bucks and all valuables gone. At least when this happens here, you can go to the police, and they actually usually catch the idiots.

Apparently he's been inquiring through some people about paying to get his "novia" beat up as well. He's better off taking his loss but some guys prefer to learn the hard way I guess.

Has anyone stayed at Hotel Aqua Rio recently that can share their opinion of it? I've been staying at Ticuan for many years, but it's been getting quite a bit more expensive. My last trip late last year averaged $95 per night (weekends are much more expensive and push that average higher). I'm curious if Aqua Rio is worth it at less than half the price, same location, and renovated rooms. Unless someone has an even better girlfriendly hotel recommendation (doesn't even need to be in the zona; DiDi is cheap).
