Even a normal common tourist knows that the first and most important thing to do once you arrive at your apt or hotel, is..... to know the street and the number where you are. Bad boy billy.....I'll share with you a secret.....it is called the address....do you know it ? You do not....

It is easy go out, but first you have to be sure you are able to come back by yourself if it is true you do not need babysitter.....I know it is so obvious, but not for everybody....

And it really does not matter if you do not know portuguese and have bad short term memory, just write the street and the number on a piece of paper, show it to EVERY taxi driver and you will be able to get home..... alone !

Unbelievable ? Yes, sometimes a piece of paper for somebody does wonders....

bbb enjoy China, where, considering how difficult the language is there compared to portuguese, you will need the owner of your apt to come bring you home every night. But with the money you save with your airfare ticket strategy, surely you can afford it.

Rua Almirante Goncalves is a one-block long street blocked on the west end by a park and exiting on Ave Atlantica. It can only be accessed from Rua Aires Saldana. Because of this obscurity, many taxistas are unfamiliar with Rua Almirante Goncalves. Ironically many taxistas know how to get to Debret Hotel but they do not know the name of this little street where it is located.

PL kinda funny twist to this story.

I came out of 4 x 4 about 9pm and it was pouring rain - the road outside 4 x 4 was actually 3 to 4 inches deep with water - no taxis in sight - I waited in the rain for 3 or 4 minutes before running out to the main road to right of 4 x 4 entrance.

I grabbed a taxi and showed him the address. He spoke no english - me no Port - and he just shrugged his shoulders.

I called Don and he tried to explain the address - then I heard the taxi driver say oh ALCAZAR - oh ALCAZAR - he knew where Alcazar Restaurant was but had no idea of the street name. Had it not been for the downpour I guess I would have just kept grabbing different taxis til a driver recognised the address - but that rain sure put a 'dampener' on that plan.

From then on I tried that strategy on several taxi drivers - didn't show them the address just repeated ALCAZAR - ALCAZAR - most took me straight there.

for the record – billy is old, fat and seriously ugly – i need all the help i can get to find suitable willing ‘bed partners’.

now i realize i am not the first person on earth to adopt this strategy – but whenever i go a’huntin ‘ladies of the night’ i always go armed with a shit load of ‘gifts for the girls’.

the fake sunglasses i buy in the markets in beijing / shanghai for us$3 to 4 each. the victoria secret panties i think cost us$5 each – not 100% sure – my mate mel sourced them – the tiny little koalas cost like us$.20 each.

this time i gave every girl i sessioned with a pair of fake sunglasses - see pic gifts 3 us$3 to 4 each - and t-shirt from australia – see pic gifts 4 – us$4 each.

i had 2 girls from karla first day i arrived – gave them their gifts after the session – they loved them. by the time the next karla girl arrived next day she knew all about the gifts and was asking for her gift before we even started.

in the termas i always gave the girls their gifts in the boite after the session – you can imagine the interest from all the other girls as my recent ‘horizontal tango partner’ was trying on her new sunnies and t-shirt in the bar and checking herself out for like 10 to 15 mins.

While that well might happen (or they'll get to the area and drive about till you say stop) with some drivers, it's also easy to believe you're being taken advantage of just cos they're navigating a one-way system - as in many countries. I usually stay in a small street myself and would get into the habit of saying it is [I]near[/I] (perto) such-and-such. Or have it written down - though basics like, left, right, here, stop, slow, will make you feel much more in control when using a taxi. I'm not fluent in some conversational areas, but I can switch from dumb friendly gringo to giving rapid, fluent directions to get to my apto, which helps dispel ideas of taking me for a further 'ride'. Especially to the garota sitting next me too. For journeys within Copa, it is easy to get to know the streets, routes, and that no journey at night should be over 10R, even if you're generous enough to agree it without meter.

For some reason I could not respond directly to his long post. But in it he provides an overview to his travel miles plan which seems to involve making charges on his credit cards through his company's merchant cc accounts to get credit for miles. Then I suspect his company would pay off the card(s) and/or issue refunds. He warns:

"2 critical things to keep in mind – 1. Consult your accountant or taxation advisor – no point in earning a shit load of free flights then having the tax man bite you on the arse on the other end 2. Be prepared to have to deal with the back room boys from your credit card company and merchant facility provider – they will almost definitely require you substantiate the ‘bona fides’ of the transactions."

I will only say that if you plan on pursuing this plan, adhere to his warnings.

I found the above info using Google advance search, (search in Portuguese Language.) It will take you to a competing forum. Use Google maps to locate the address in Rio. (It's surrounded by Favelas!)
Somewhat difficult finding the above info, as the address is not listed in Gpguia nor BitchMaps, and regular Google search did not find it.

BTW, Luana has 2 termas B&W reviews at GPGuia. Most recent is from 05, 2009. Nao for anal per the reviews.
