Yes it is very true. And not just a knife but more like a Samurai sword or something close to it. There is a VDO of the attack from some security camera.
GF just told me of an incident, perhaps on Sukhumvit near the Thong Lo area? May have happened this last Saturday or Sunday.
Taxi driver and farang passenger got into a fight, supposedly over the princely sum of 60 baht. Passenger accused driver of cheating him. Driver objected. Passenger threw coffee onto driver. Driver escalates and pulls knife, stabs and kills the passenger.
Anybody heard of this? True story? Embellished?
What idiot gets into a pissing contest over 2usd?
http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/local/358783/cabbie-charged-with-killing-american
Wow. WTF?
There had to be some alcohol involved.
The stories claim the guy was a several-year resident of TH and spoke Thai fluently. He sure didn't know much about the Thai psyche, did he? Assuming, of course, that the story is true. The Thais tend to be pretty easygoing, and they take an amazing amount of crap from foreigners. But once you [CodeWord140] them off, look out!
I'm not blaming the victim, but 51 baht? Really? Some battles just aren't worth fighting.
I wonder what will happen to the cabbie. If his relatives have a bit of dough, we know already.

**** girls in nana
Hi all, I'm new here but thought I'd share this info.
A few months ago I visited BK, nana and cowboy. Good times, but was in a bar in Nana when I spotted to young looking girls dancing. They bothe had numbers. I'm quite familiar with asian girls and when I see a young one I'm pretty good at telling roughly how old (roughly for the purposes of not ending up at the hilton that is!) These 2 looked suspect. So I call another dancer over buy her a drink and get chatting. I ask her how old the girls are becuase to me they seem young. Without any sense of guilt or shame or concern she says one is 16, the other 17. These girls are showing their stuff off under black mini-mini skirts, no pantys. Guess even school girls need Iphones these days.
Head to another bar, same thing 15 and 17. These 2 didn't have number tags on though and weren't panty-less.
It was only after I got back around the same time that a well known thai expat website author also commented on the apparent use of very young girls here. So buyer beware! Anyone know if this is still happening?
Pablo Escobar made billions off cocaine-whatever. I doubt anyone in his country respected him. Certain professions are just like that.
You make it sound like a lot of girls are making out like bandits. Can the dr BJ confirm this. My eyes tell me a few do most don't.
Firstly you are completely wrong about Pablo. He is still revered to this day in Medellin, many years after his death, because of his charitable contributions including Hospitals, Schools, Nurseries and sports training facilities.
Secondly I cannot confirm or deny your point because, as is often the case, I have no idea what you are talking about.
Regards,
BJ

The video is amazing. From what little is shown, the American seems to be the aggressor even though the Thai is wielding the machete. Trayvon Martin - George Zimmerman Thai style. The Thai will definitely lawyer up and claim self defense even though he had to go to the trunk to get the machete which indicates premeditation 1st degree murder or manslaughter at the very least. Although nothing justifies this murder, I think the American is partly to blame for his untimely demise. He seems to have made a series of bad moves one right after the other: #1 Never show your anger or disgust and never lose your cool with a Thai national. Keep a stiff upper lip and stay above the fray. #2 Just give the guy the baht and get out. #3 Never throw anything at a Thai or get physical unless there is absolutely no alternative and no escape. And #4 When the Machete made its appearance, the American should have placed a couple hundred bhat on the ground and given the Thai the Wei sign to show he, the American had no weapon and wanted to go in peace. #4 is a little murky since we do not have video of the beginning of the altercation. At this point, the Thai may not have given the American any choice but to stand and fight or the American may have become incensed that the Thai was threatening him with a machete. In any case, The American must have been drinking or something. He really lost his cool and look what happened; he contributed to his own death. Very sad. Although we do not know everything, it looks like it all could have been avoided.
Remember (some years ago) your descriptive stories while you where in Bangkok.
Hope you return soon and start posting.
Very nice of you to say, Somewhere. I have indeed been out of the game for three long, grueling years, but I'm on my way back. Planning a 9 day work / monger trip for early August. Stay tuned for those long, drawn-out reports.
I actually agree with this guys concept. If one doesn't point out PPs absurdness regarding the quality of Parking lot girls (Nana that is) guys may actually believe they can get top quality agogo type girls for 1200 baht.
Do you park at the NCP 24/7? It's no skin off my nose if you believe me or not. Up to you. I've provided the evidence, lookalike photos, vids, etc, versus nothing. Who to believe, H444 the short quicky guy, as suggested by your 444 name, or ISG members PP, Lancelot, Linkwray666? This is going to be a tough decision, but not for informed intelligent sensible no nonsense readers. LOL.
I have nothing to gain from posting the facts since 07, except good karma for giving back to a forum that has given to me. If I were banned tomorrow I'd lose nothing & be just a taker like you & not a giver. There is no streetwalker union paying me to post about them. Obviously the gogos like R4 wouldn't be offering me a salary to constantly mention outdoor freelancers, some of whom are their ex employees. Could it be ISG is paying you to incite many people to post useful info here? IMO the forum has been better with you here, as the pot stirer, like as in the days of old, of OTH. Like you, he, too, was accused of being a serial antagonist. But you clearly and obviously fit the name.
The Nana parking lot sounds a lot like Pattaya. LOL.
A Bangkok gogo girl tell you this? LOL

There are many kinds of taxi drivers, many might carry knifes or guns that can end your life very quickly. It is best just to choose a driver who seems reliable and if he tries to cheat just tell him and maybe get out if necessary and if he insists just give him 40-50 baht and look for another cab, there are thousands of them. Some drivers look like they are on drugs so who knows what might happen if you [CodeWord140] them off. Your life is worth a lot more than 50 baht or something.

We don't know if he actually assaulted the taxi driver with coffee and we may never know as he is no longer here. What we have is the taxi driver's word and he is an accused killer so you know he will try to portray himself as the reasonable taxi driver and the deceased victim as the aggressive and unreasonable perpetrator. There is much we don't know, perhaps the dispute was about more than the fare or he tried to charge more than the metered price. Hard to get the real scoop about something like this when the only version being presented is from a person with a lot to lose while the other side is dead silent.
The problem with this story is that unless you were in the car or the cab was equipped with a camera or recording device, you don't know what happened.
Actuall, we know very well, a younger armed man has killed another with a deadly weapon over a trivial matter. Sadly, a very common fact.
We don't know if he actually assaulted the taxi driver with coffee.
Hmm, there is no such thing like "assault with coffee".

The only question is how much prison the driver will serve, and that depends on a lot of factors that have little to do with the fact itself. But the excruciating details about the argument do not matter mich, and I agree with the principle. Per Thai law, the fact alone that he has confessed, automatically amounts to a penality reduction.
