The overwhelming response has been "If you have a VPN on your computer and you then log into your company's VPN, your connection will be so slow, you won't be able to get any work done.

I am not sure the VPN speed slowdown is cumulative. My guess is you will get the slower of the two.

If you are going do this you need to set up a VPN to a thin client in the states and log into your work from that thin client. Also, use Google Fi to make and receive phone calls.
