ISG members probably account for less than 10% of the total number of mongers in Thailand at any given time and that's being extremely generous. I think if we all went around clutching our manifesto from the price police we would be unstoppable. We could even inform the girls we are senior members of this forum and watch the wave of realization wash over them that we know the score and we are not to be messed around.

I think the girls would fall in line and give impeccable service at universally acceptable prices as opposed to just walking away and waiting for the next punter to come along. Anyone interested in this infallible campaign?

If a girl has been good to me, I WILL BE GOOD TO HER! 4000bht seems to be reasonable amount for around 36hrs of somebody's time.

If the market is being spoilt, too bad. As anyone who knows economics will understand markets will find its own equilibrium and one punter underpaying or overpaying is not going to change anything finally.

As always, I would rather overpay than underpay to a nice and sincere person.

So few punters use ISG that all the moaning has no influence on prices.

How many Japanese read ISG? They are reported to be the 'small cocks, big payers' of Bangkok.

Jee I can remember paying $10 for a 12hour non-stop action night. And the lady was delighted with 10 baht for her fare home. Times change but the market is self balancing.

And bluntly does it matter. When I am on holiday I have a budget for travel and hotels and spend what the heck I like on booze and girls. I have never taken any notice of ISG guidance

(from the moaners) on prices. I very quickly determine the going rates with a few chats in the Beer Garden and Gulliver's (plus a couple of bars in Nana) and make my own mind up on what I will pay.

McM, don't even bother giving explainations, you don't owe any. Your trite overpayer mantra has been heard one million times and there is nothing that can change it. If you believe 2K is underpaying, good for you. Now for the facts, that is what I will give to the same girl for same or even better service, and that is what she would have happily accepted. All the rest is wasted electrons.

When I'm told by a girl that she has been overpaid, I smile and say that it was good, but I'm not going to do the same. At that point invariably the conversation moves to another subject.

Traveler, I also read the Stickman article, with interest. It sheds considerable light on why the girls prefer the Asian men; and it may infuriate some ISG members. I found the description of how the Asian men "bargain" with the girls very interesting. Having worked with Asian businessmen for decades I never believed the claims Asian men overpay the SW. Stickman's article reveals they just use a good negotiation technique: give the girl what she asks for but in return get from her exactly what you want and make sure it's sufficient to justify the price. Smart!

However, I do have friends who are Austrian Jews. It was very sad to go through a family photo album with them for the first time and learn that almost everyone in the family born before the late 1940's died in a concentration camp.

I posted this because from time to time other ISG members remark about how insulated Thai culture can be. I thought a group of college students failure to realize the poster they created was in bad taste was a good illustration of this very limited perspective.
