bs. that is at least a 20 minute walk, unless you're running. :)
ok. the train pulls into the station. you queue up with all of your fellow passengers and get off the car. you walk down the track, across the tracks, through the station (perhaps stopping to [CodeWord134]), cross the street to the trolley station, find a kiosk, buy your ticket after figuring out how it works, and get on the trolley. that is a minimum of 15 minutes unless you push everybody aside, sprint to the machine, etc., etc. plus odds are that you will have to wait 5 or 10 mins for a trolley. now coming back, you don't have to buy a ticket but you still have to make your was across the street and get into line to board the train. earlier is better, unless you're as smart as i am and purchased the "business class" upgrade, where you get to board first.
nobody ever said the train was faster. it's just more relaxing than driving.
no that walk is 15 minutes. i timed it myself. but then i normally walk fast.
sounds cool. i'll definitely try the tram route and report back. by the way, how much more is the business class and what do you do on the train to kill time? read a book? if i take a book i would hate having to carry it around in tj.
your time estimates are pretty much correct, except that 1. the trolley stops at the amtrak station, so there is no need to spend 15 minutes walking across the street, and 2. the trolley ride from the amtrak station to the boarder is closer to 45 minutes than 30. since the trolley leaves every 15 minutes, you can estimate that you will spend between 5 and 10 minutes waiting for the next trolley once you get off the train. the amount of time you wait at the santa ana station will depend on when you arrive there.
thanks, i figured as much. and yeah, i was wondering about the old town sd and the santa fe depot stop. i'll take the latter one.
that is why the windows open on the trains. duh !
be careful not to get caught between the track and wheels because it could put a damper on the tj trip.
peeing out the window would be cool, maybe i can hit some cows. lol
enough of the inane "how do i [CodeWord134]?" where do i walk? questions, get a life or a newer car or (shock) get on the train and work out a routine (like phordfan has).
dermdoc has you pegged.
hey this information could be useful for a few other people as well.
as for spermdoc, he's an annoying jerk that thinks he's better than everyone else then whines and moans when someone says anything about him. well i'm still here and he's not. he couldn't take the heat.
