Another travel tip is to use Metro Line 9's Shangcheng Road station. Use exit 4 and walk east on Shangcheng Road, away from South Pudong Road. As I recall, you will pass a Marriott Apartment building on your right. Just pass that, turn right at the next driveway. Then, pass the Marriott building and turn right at the next alleyway. No. 1085 South Pudong Road is on your left. The address is written in large silver letters above the door. Walk in past the guards to the elevators at the back and go to the 5th floor.

Good luck![/QUOTE]I just walked by there on my way back from work, and this is about right, amazing how easy it is to find when you have the directions and not just the address (by the way, do not pay attention to the street signs in the area, they're plain fucked). Not sure which exit is which as far as the metro station, but on the North East corner of Shagcheng and Pudong South Road is a metro station for line 9. Directly across Shangcheng from there is the set of buoldings under discussion. You can walk into the mall (the Shin May Union Square Mall) and out the back, and you will be facing the door, recognizable by the 1085 in 12" silver numbers to the right of the door, and the large circular window with a semi-circular awning of steel. It looks like a typical lobby with a number of business names on the wall.

If I have time, maybe I will go visit tonight, or maybe tomorrow, will report back once I do.

I may yet go to Manhattan thought, I don't have to work that early. If I go, I will be wearing a distinctly American hat.

Police will go undercover to stop sex trade

CITY police plan to continue their crackdown on prostitution by introducing undercover inspections at massage parlors and karaoke venues.

Police said they are now planning to train dedicated teams of police officers and assistants who would work undercover on collecting clues to crack down on the sex trade.

The system will allow quicker information sharing among police departments to raise efficiency. When undercover officers detect sex deals, the venues will be shut down, police said.

Police said working undercover along with carrying out spot checks would be more effective than occasional raids in stamping out prostitution.

About 7,500 suspects had been caught and about 2,000 venues had been fined or closed in the first seven months of this year due to a tougher stance on prostitution, gambling and drug abuse, police said.

Officers also encouraged residents to keep providing tips about suspect venues. Residents provided tips about 789 such venues in the first seven months of this year.

About 200,000 employees of massage parlors and karaoke venues have registered their real identity with the police since the system was launched in 2005, officers said. The system allows police to better monitor these venues and prevent illegal dealings.

More than 60 people were caught and punished as police raided 14 foot massage parlors on Qingzhen Road in Xuhui District last Wednesday and Thursday, officers said.

Secret rooms for sex services were found during the raid.

Police said they will cooperate more closely with other bureaus in future to improve supervision of these venues.

Seen the amount of sauna/mp's and KTV visible to the eyes of a foreigner visiting Shangai, accessing only a small part of the city, not capable to read chinese, if LE wants to massively take the action against those (same) establishments to stop the sex trade, I feel they need to occupy the town with polices forces comng from all over China and that will take quite a long time too....
