That's a fair point. Every price I've ever seen. For everything. Having to do with the place is way above market rates. I'm all for it if it's a happy place for some.

Yes, I read many sites back, couln't found what I was hoping for. First the Q, where to stay? As I figured out here an with google Envigado, Laureles and the most recommended area El Poblado.
Q: do you regard, what to prefer (to come to sights and chicas during day and night with notch too long taxi drive).
Should I take El Poblado, should be easy there and of course most expensive? But, if I want to go out at night, for some beer, looking around and perhaps find an attractive girl.
Thank you for help in advance and I hope I will be allouwed to ask more at the next weeks?

Another experience, if someone recommends a taxi, the price will be higher than getting a taxi on your own.

What is the point of negotiating a price and then giving a tip? Did they give you 'extra special' service? Like they took to a special place in a special airport in a special car?
As part of my continuing effort to map out El Centro I spent another 2 hours walking the streets yesterday. This time I stayed west of the metro line. Here's a list of all the street locations where I found working girls along with a couple of strip clubs that I don't think are on the map. Use at your own risk. Shorts and flip flops are not recommended.
Starting point is at Parque Berrio station.
Cross to the Palacio de La Cultura and enter Botero Plaza on the north side. Head west towards Museo de Antioquia. In front of the Museum, turn left. There are a few more statues and you'll probably see a few working girls, more so on the right side. Continue south until you reach the white church, Iglesia de la Veracruz. Turn right into the alley alongside the church. This is Calle 51. There are working girls leaning against the church, a pretty scary looking bunch.
At the corner of Carrera 53 they'll start looking better. Turn right on Carrera 53 (north). The heaviest concentration of girls are in this block. Lots of girls on both sides up to Calle 52. If you turn left at Calle 52, there's a large parking lot on the right. Usually a small group of girls there. This area is a bit sketchy. The better path is to stay on Carrera 53, cross Calle 53 and turn left, down to Carrera 54. You'll find working girls on Carrera 54 for half a block north of Calle 53. These girls tend to be larger and older.
If you continue on Carrera 54 to Calle 54, turn right and go to Carrera 53 and Calle 54 there are a lot of bars on both sides of Carrera 53 and Carrera 52 A. Most of the bars have a few working girls sitting inside. Carrera 52 A is mostly a farmer's market on the east side and bars on the west side.
Additional strip clubs.
Taberna Victoria. Calle 53 #52 A-26. This is half a block west of Conejitas.
Grill Occidental. Carrera 52 #53-158. This is a long block north of Conejitas.
The quality of street girls in centro is mostly lower than even the quality of casa girls. It is not worth the time and danger. A few guys said that they found hidden gems. But when I saw their pics, I did not think so.

I haven't seen any danger, especially not on those streets. There are too many people. Guys stabbing and shooting people are bad for business. That's what everyone is doing, taking care of their business.
As for looks, the average for streetwalkers and casa girls is about the same. However, the casas have fewer at the top and bottom of the scale. In other words you'll find a lot of average looking chicas in the casas along with a few hot ones and a few ugly ones. On the streets you'll find everything from fat grannies to probably too young hotties. You'll find everything from 1 to 10. I rarely walk through without spotting at least 1 who I'd rank as 8 or higher.
You're basing your impressions without ever going there. That's fine, except you're trying to influence others about something you don't know anything about. While I may be wrong about many things, I see things with my own eyes instead of letting others decide for me.
To each his own, but I agree. For the most part, when I have seen fotos of centro chicas, I have not been impressed. I'd rather pay a few more pesos for something better. Maybe there are some real hotties out there that we have not seen. But if they are very hot and walking the street, I suspect there must be a reason. One that I probably would not like.
