...Don't remember seeing any showers, but there may be...
There are several businesses all along Beach Road offering toilet for 5 baht and shower for 10 baht for beach goers, (look for the signs). All the massage parlors allow you to shower before and after an oil or soapy massage. Soi 6 lady bars have rooms upstairs where you can shower.
I like Pattaya much better than BKK for mongering, but don't think it would be worth going there for such a short time. You are better off and will have a lot more fun booking a hotel for at least one or two nights.
Gents,
I'll be in BKK for the last week of July and I'll stay an all week there just for my favorite sports.
I was wondering if Pataya would be worth the visit, leaving BKK in the morning and going back in the evening.
How is the beach?
Could I come alone with my things, abandon them on the sand and go swimming for 15 minutes, and still found them when I come back?
Do they have public showers on the beach to get rid of the salt and sand?
If I want to visit some hot spot during day time with no hotel in Pataya, what would you recommend?
Thanks for your advises.
Not sure how long your staying in Bangkok but you really need to spend more time in Pattaya.
If you are sure you just want to go for the day then I would book a cheap room in Pattaya for about 500. 600 baht to enable you to store your clothes and to have somewhere to shower and take a woman for fun.
Sawasdee has rooms from 500 baht (without in room safe) and there are cheaper versions all over the place.

When I first went to Thailand 5 years ago I stayed for 9 nights in Bangkok, then I read up about Pattaya and have stayed there every year since then (straight from the airport to Pattaya)
Its going to cost you 2400 baht approx for a return taxi, 2. 4 hours out of your life for the travelling. Why bother, spend a couple of days in patts and then next time you go to Thailand you will not bother with Bangkok.
I am 171 days from wheels up, flying premium class on Emirates and I head straight for Pattaya.
Could you tell us exactly how she pulled the heist? Did you have your "huge amount of cash" in your safe? If so, how did she get to it? Or did you have it just lying around in your room? How did she avoid the "great security" and CCTV?
In the interest of general safety, here are a few tips on avoiding getting robbed by a freelancer (posting to this forum since you asked here.- maybe this belongs to General or Safe Sex thread).
* There is no practical way to prevent a freelancer from drugging you. I don't drink, and the only food we shared was a snack that I bought at 7-11. Even with no shared food, they'd find a way. The girl was very sweet.- if you lined up 10 random freelancers she'd be the one I'd *least* suspect of doing it.
* No way to avoid being a target (except never hooking up with any girls, of course). I'm a long-term resident, who speaks Thai and knows his way around, wearing 500 baht worth of MBK clothes and living in a place that's solid but not flashy. I thought I'd just not make a good target. Wrong assumption.
* There was no period of dizziness after being drugged, no time to react. I just remember lying down by her and waking up 18h later.
* Do not use a key-based safe, use a combination-based one (so if she drugs you, she still doesn't know the code). If you must use a key-based safe (I had one provided by the building), hide the key apart from your other keys. Generally, a safe is a mixed-blessing, on one hand it's "safe", on the other it screams "all valuables are here" (especially tricky if you can't fully trust management of the building).
* Make every visitor leave ID with the guard and make sure the guard writes down her info. This is the most important step, *always* do it, no exceptions. I was stupid enough not to do it (in my culture, asking for someone's ID is insulting). Without the ID there is nothing that can be done. CCTV is useless, face will never be clear enough (40x40 blurry pixels at best), and even with clear face shot.- what can police do?
* Security guards are useless, except for writing the details from their ID. My building requires a card swipe on exit, but the guard failed to see that she got out alone (I. E. I didn't open the door for her). She talked to her briefly and let her go.- a cute girl can pass by a guard easily.
To put things into perspective, I'm not saying freelancers in general are dangerous.- but do it enough times, and you'll hit upon a bad one.
you DO understand croc that there is BENEFIT to using a "neutral bedroom" - it sounds like you took her home. A short time room might cost a bit more but it is a LOT easier to only have a minimum amount of money on you and nothing worth stealing. I usually don't carry more than 2000B anyway (less after I spend some of it - ATM card stays in the room safe)
That's one of the benefits to having the ID checked first by a hotel - THEY know who to look for (some of them even make a copy of the ID)
Thank you for the sensible advice, I know all this after the fact
I dislike using ST rooms. I like to take my time and relax with a girl. And after the deed is done can't be bothered to trek across town. ST places are rarely anywhere close to clean.- rolling in the sheets with 10 other guy's cum on them, and being grossed of touching anything is unappealing. Works fine for a bang-thank-you 10-minute routine, but not for my usual date.
All the cash was in the safe, not on me.- I never carry over 5k baht. She opened the safe, though. ATM cards can be cancelled within minutes and can't be used without a PIN, so they're not a huge concern (except for the inconvenience of not having backup money).
Insisting on the guard / reception keeping the ID *and* writing down the details is the only sensible precaution as far as I see (apart from having a combination safe and not a key-based one).
Thai women are dumbs or not has been the main issue. What a waste to discuss such an issue, as the answer would be as the answer to the question "whether the bird or the egg is the first one".
I agree. Let's move on. We all have our own opinions. I really do believe, however, that these girls are way too spoiled.
For some time, I had pretty much the same line of thinking as you did, though I was a bit too polite to put it in words. Then, I got drugged by a Bangkok freelancer and robbed of a huge amount of cash (this in spite of speaking Thai, having great security in my place including CCTV, safe etc.) She looked like the sweetest girl on Earth, but was clearly a professional, and truly good at her job.
Hard way to learn to have a bit more respect for people... Amjeck, for your own good, you need to adjust your attitude before it's too late.
That sucks big time. Never let your guard down in LOS. No Thai person can be trusted!

Yes, I would also be interested in how it was done. How were you drugged? How did she get into your safe.
Relating the details would help us all.
Thank you.
Sorry about your experience, but I'm interested in the full story.

The reason I ask is because I too like to take girls back to my place where I feel most comfortable; my building has great security too; and I keep any amounts of cash over 3000 baht or so in my room safe. If a girl tried to steal my laptop computer or any other large items, she'd have to get past security, and that would be difficult.
The beach is not great, and I would not swim in the sea. If you bought a drink on the beach and left your things in the charge of the beach bar then I think they would be safe, except for your Rolex...! Don't remember seeing any showers, but there may be.
With no hotel room your choice is one of the few soapie massage parlours (I've never tried), or a ST in Soi 6 (I've never tried). Perhaps someone else can advise?
My strong advice would be to get a hotel room and stay o/n. Even if you have booked in BKK everything is cheaper in Pattaya and you can probably save the cost with one LT. A good room can be had for under 1000Bht, an OK room for 500+Bht.
Now, I've been 3 times in Bkk and always found it fantastic.
I stayed twice in the Nana hotel with everything I wanted within short walks.
I can still stay 3/4 days at the Nana and then move to Pataya.
What hotel would you recommend that could be compared to the Bkk's Nana ?
I understood from the website that the Sawasdee recommended by Jakemeoff is maybe not the same kind of hotel.
You say that prices are much better in Pattaya than Bkk.
Could I have examples?
MP, ST, LT, ...
Thanks again for any good advices.

Will be there by end of July, exactly 1 year after firt visit to LOS.
5 days Pattaya, 5 days Phuket, 5 days Bangkok

Not sure how the girl would be able to get into the safe -- she must be a professional safe cracker as well. I can speak from personal experience that 'how you were drugged' is often an unanswerable question. I got drugged at a hotel once (not in Bangkok, but in Thailand) when I didn't even have a girl in the room. It must have been done by hotel staff. I deduced that it must have been put into the complimentary bottle of water that was in the room. They cleaned me out of a bit of cash, my camera and passport. Luckily they left me my debit card, which I was able to use to get myself back to BKK where I was able to get a replacement passport within a few days. The water was the only thing I consumed in the room, and I was alone. If you're there with someone and drink and eat, you can probably just guess what it was that was drugged.

Oops, I missed this post. Yeah a key-based safe isn't exactly very safe, is it. Only way to keep it secure is to hide the key in a place no one could possibly find. That's a bit of work. And let's face it, it usualy won't occur to most of us to do until the girl is in the room -- and so how do you hide the key well enough that it can't be found WHILE the girl is there with you in the room? I suppose you could wait til she's showering. Anyway, it all seems like a bit of stress that can be avoided by getting a room with a combination safe instead. The last thing I want to be thinking about in a moment like that is finding a good hiding place for a key.

Trustworthy hotel security box is another way to go re passports & other valuables, keeping photocopies separate in case shit happens. With bank and credit cards and TCs there is no need to keep much cash on you or in your residence at any time.

Thanks again for any good advices.
Hi, I do not recommend the Sawasdee hotel, I just pointed it out as a cheap hotel for the day.
Never stayed at the Nana (I stayed at the Grand president in Soi 11) but looking at prices the Nana shows for about 1100 baht per night for the cheapest room.
So to show some hotels in that price range there is the Summer Spring, right on Beach road and a brand new hotel just opened for 1200 baht per night until October, stay 7 nights get one free.
http://www.summerspringhotel.com/accommodation.html
Pattay bay resort, 999 baht per night pay for 6 nights get one free
http://pattayabayresort.com/default. Aspx
Both are good hotels, the Pattaya bay resort is back from the beach behind second road, but very well recommended from people who have stayed there.
In my trips to Pattaya I have stayed in the
Sabai lodge (dolphin pool cottage room)
http://www.sabailodge. Co. Th/dolphin_pool.html
LK Metropole (one bedroom suite)
http://www.lkpattayahotel.com/metropole/accom_1bed.html
Last year I was supposed to stay in the Sandy spring hotel in a seaview suite but because of the problems at Suvarnabhumi airport last christmas I diverted to the Philippines.
So this year I am booked for the Sandy spring seaview suite again and hopefully I will get in there this time as I have wanted that one right on beach road and Soi 13.
http://www.sandyspringhotel.com/
I booked this hotel above from the Scandibar website as they take a booking without needing credit card information before you arrive, you just pay the hotel and scandibar give you a free beer per day at their bar.

As I said previously, I much prefer Pattaya as its a beach resort and much more fun for me than Bangkok.

Pattaya vs Bangkok
Gentemen,
I have mongered extensively in bangkok but only Russian, uzbek, kazak women.
Mostly from CM2, Spasso and sometimes from Spicy.
Now i have never mongered in Pattaya. From what I have read in the forum there are Russian, Uzbek, kazak women available in Pattaya. but no mention of their rating in terms of looks and service.
I know the generally these women do not offer great service but i have been able to extract the service that I want from them.
So my question to senior mongers in Pattaya is are the Russians, uzbeks, kazak, etc better looking in bangkok or Pattaya.
I am planning my next upcoming trip and need to decide to I need to go to pattay or just stay in bangkok like always.
Comments would be appreciated.
Thanks gents.
