large 500 sq. ft rooms with clean bath, small fridge, 19" tv with
cable, good beds, safe. two fast internet computers in lobby, free.
- bad: my netbook couldn't connect to the wifi in lobby (but about 5 other people there could connect)
- bad: had to inventory and sign for the items in the minibar
- bad: had to leave a big deposit when i checked in for just one night
- bad: no latch on the inside of door so anyone with a key can enter
- bad: bed was too soft and squeaky
- good: close to the casino and action around it
- good: fancier room than most of the other places i stayed
- good: price includes okay breakfast

JAGUAR
- The e-mail address present on the hotel website ( [email]jaguar@verizon.net.do[/email] ) doesn't work.
- On their website there's also a contact page with a form you can fill to ask for info, but after 3 days they haven't replied yet, so I guess that doesn't work either.

MAISON GAUTREAUX
I asked them a couple questions:

Q. How should I book?
A. You can send an email with your confirm reservation and you can pay by pay pal we send you a check by email and you make your pay
(on their page you can also fill out a booking form with your credit card details)

Q. Which is your policy regarding cancelations?
A. You have to cancel 72 hours before your check in

Q. Is it possible to bring in guests at night, and if so, do you charge?
A. We don't charge if the guest coming and visit couple of hours, but if your guest sleep at the hotel we charge.
(so it would appear they're girlfriendly for Short Time visits only)

Maison Gatreux is low key, you can probably just show up and rent a room. I have stayed there several times and the workers there were always very nice to me. Very basic rooms with safes. I had at least one chica sleep over, we entered around 5am and she slept like a bear hibernating, she woke up the next afternoon and no one at Maison Gatreux bothered me.

Many guys like the Jaguar hotel (not the Jaragua). I am sure BQ RIBS has their contact info. There are a number of chica friendly hotels in Santo Domingo, I doubt you will have a problem finding a room.

Mystik, Riazor, Casona Dorada (make sure you get a room with a safe) Napolitano, Palacio, Conde de Penalba, Mercure, Embajador are other chica friendly hotels.

As a follow up to my prior post, there are a number of small hotels close by to the bigger three hotels on the malecon (Intercontinental V Centannario, Melia and Jaragua). The owner of Maison Gatreux runs a private security firm from the Maison Gatreux hotel, so there are usually a number of private guards around. The owner of Maison Gatreux I have been told is a colonel in the police. I have seen guards from his company outside the Conde De Penalba hotel in Zona Colonial. Masion Gatreux is about 400 feet from the Intercontinental V Centannario hotel (convenient to tell chicas to meet you in front of the V Centannario and then take them to Maison Gatreux) rooms are basic with digital safes.

I would imagine most small hotels in Santo Domingo would be chica friendly. Within 5 blocks of Maison Gatreux there are other smaller hotels. Another small hotel about half a block from Maison Gatreux is the Hotel Alcaldeza. Hotel Alcaldeza used to be a radio station, prices supposedly from 35-50 per night. About one block from Maison Gatreux are the Hotel Navarro and Hotel Duque Wellington. Many times I have rented rooms in Santo Domingo without making reservations before hand. I really doubt most of the hotels are fully booked.

I often stay at the Maison Gautreaux and unless you check in with the girl, they have never charged me when I had one sleep over night. You should get it for $40. Sometimes if you squeeze the manager you can get it for $38. If you check in with a girl you will pay $58. I have stayed at many places in SD with similar prices and I always go the MG. It is just around the corner from the chica houses and the boardwalk. There are also street walkers around on Independancy.

I have been staying at Jaguar exclusively for a few years. You can call to make a reservation or better yet just show up and look at the rooms first. Jaguar, just like most hotels, are never booked to capacity. I would not worry about a reservation. Just show up with locations for a couple of hotels and pick the one you like.

I am in SD now and for a change of pace I am staying at Carey House Hotel. Carey House is chica friendly, $43 a night for a small room, A/C, frig, etc. Carey House is in a residencial area and a taxi is best at night.

Much more nightlife in the capital. Numerous casa with chicas in Santo Domingo, numerous street walkers in Santo Domingo that are out on the streets till 4-5am. Also working girls can be found in the casinos and their attached bars.
