One night "lay"over in Bangkok
Had a one night "lay"over in Bangkok, a few days back.
As suggested by experienced member Mick Licker (see his comments in the Hotel thread), decided to go to town instead of spending the night near the airport, in spite of having an early morning flight to catch.
Arrived in BKK at 1800 Hrs and was out in the arrivals area within 30 minutes since just had hand luggage. Walked directly to gate 3 & 4 and took a metered taxi to the Rembrandt Hotel. The hotel was booked online for US$ 65.00 all inclusive. Taxi charges B 350 including tolls but too much traffic at the exit form the Expressway on to Sukhumvit.
For those transiting through Bangkok and having a overnight layover, please do not look at any Hotels which say they are "near" the airport. There are only two near the airport - Novotel, which is right across but is exorbitantly priced (quoted me US$ 145 per night) and Country Inn (qouted US$ 25 online), which I could see on the drive out of the airport. Although it is close to the airport, it is situated in the middle of nowhere, with no other building/house/activity in its immediate surroundings. Just fields of paddy (I guess).
After the check-in and the customary 3 S's, took a walk along Sukhumvit towards Nana. It started raining heavily so the only place available to duck into was Robinsons and the supermarket in the basement. While taking a stroll in the cosmetics section came across a WG who was giving clear signals. Pretended to buy a cosmetic and asked her for help in the selection process. That did the trick and shortly after wards both of us were standing outside and discussing the terms and conditions of the deal. Since it was still raining, we walked into a adjoining Soi (forget the number) and into a small Japanese restaurant for dinner.
A couple of beers and a small dinner later, walked back to the Hotel in a light drizzle. The doorman gave a puzzled look and before he could say "Swasdee......", I slipped in the customary B 200 for his commitment to let us pass and keep his mouth shut. I was told next morning by the same doorman that the Hotel is not GF, even though you book a double room. The lifts also worked only with the "room key card".
Following the customary shower, the action shifted to the room, starting with a light massage, a BBBJ to completion with CIM. A small rest later and then Round 2 with multiple positions and finishing with doggie. Service was excellent and she was willing to try anything. Did not ask for anal.
As suggested by various members on this forum, had all my belongings and valuables inside a locked carry-on / the room safe and did not want to take out the camera or the mobile to take pictures, although she had accepted for pictures.
Total cost B 700 plus B 100 for a tip. Had not bargained.
She claimed that she was a freelancer who did this occasionally, although going by her performance, I doubt it strongly. She seemed to be a regular WG.
After two rounds, let her go and was deep asleep shortly before 12 midnight.
NOTE:
The next morning when the taxi dropped me at the Departure level at the airport, I could see several "falangs" engaging taxis from there, as soon as the passengers were dropped off. Did not inquire the rates so do not have a comparison. But, contrary to what is mentioned elsewhere on this forum, taxis from the departure level are a possibility (just like the old airport).
Please avoid the so called "Duty Free" at the new airport - it is a total rip-off !
Total Cost for the "lay"over:
Hotel Room: US$ 65.00
Taxis: B 850
WG: B 800
Light Dinner for two: B 900
Total Cost (approx) US$ 145
Total satisfaction : Immense
