First place to visit in the evening is 40 Thieves. Girls go here in the afternoon and evenings. Forty Thieves was dead most of the time except when it was flooded with expats living in Kenya on Sunday lunch / early afternoon. Some girls go there but not many although I guess they know when it will be busy. Beer was expensive at 300 for a Tusker.

Shakatak was interesting. Apart from a couple of European idiots who wanted to start trouble over nothing, everyone was happy. But did not notice much pickup as such. Kim4love was not open during my entire stay but said to be interesting. A couple of other bars open that could have something going on from time to time.

IMHO, I think that a trip to the town (Ugunda?) is worthwhile and there are a few places in the bars from Barclays on the junction to the town where there may be some semi-pros there too. THe beach is also worth a look. The trouble with Diani is that once you get a girl, it can be difficult to get rid of her as there are only a few boy meets girl places. Not a place for someone who wants many partners in a very short time.

Ukunda is where many down-on-their-luck mzungus live very cheaply. They (barely) survive on the monthly transfer of their meagre pension plan from Europe. Of course, high class girls know better than to waste their time and talent in Ukunda, BUT they may live there if they need to conserve money "between assignments" and you can meet them in the supermarket, at the butcher or at Rongai.

The 9's and 10's which you see in Diani Beach (try Nakumatt, Chandarana and 40 Thieves in the afternoon, Leonardo's or The Cave or any of the hotel bars and restaurants in the evening) are usually contract girls from upcountry (often from Uganda or Rwanda) who are brought in by mzungus who have a holiday villa or cottage in Diani and want exclusive companionship during their stay. Many of them, at least during High Season, hang around for a while after their 'husband" has left, hoping to find somebody else for a short term relationship.

Yes, Diani is not as target rich and crowded as Bamburi / Mwtapa, but, if you prefer quality over quantity and have the luxury of time on your side, is likely to be much more rewarding in the long run.
