Let's not all get paranoid people.

First of all, all this talk about a foreigner invasion setting up monger-friendly shops is not really the case. There's LDV in Cartagena which is owned by an Italian (not the stereotypical U.S. monger!); and the Mansion is co-owned by an Aussie and I can't remember who else but I believe they're of mixed Colombian and U.S. heritage, so again it's not just a "gringo thing." And those two venues have been around awhile already.

There's a few other spots in Medellin but either they are not monger-oriented (Executivo Hotel, & Colombian Sweathearts which may have some prepagas snuck in the roster but is basically just a dating service) or they seem to have stayed low profile and don't attract that much business/attention anymore (Club VIP sold one of their locations).

Even the Mansion is supposedly more low-profile now.

And all the expat-owned hostels out there are for backpackers, not at all your monger type clientele. Many of the backpackers pursue and date the locals, and might even hit the monger venues but there's little overlap between the monger and backpacker world; anyway, the local media has shown little interest or sense of threat from the hostel scene which is STILL BIGGER than the monger scene.

As for Cali, the expat scene remains small. A couple of hostels. The owner of the monger-friendly Cali Plaza is a gringo, but it's not just a monger hotel, I've even seen entire families stay over. The new Cali Castle is to the best of my knowledge owned by a Colombian-American; again, not a 100% stereotypical blond-hair blue-eyed gringo.

Also, if I remember correctly, W. Mora wasn't just a gringo or a "pimp." He was actually I believe Colombian-American as well, and had been living for many many years already in Cali. Enough time to have gotten involved with some shady or flaky local "businessmen" which is usually where expats eventually get into trouble.

Sooner or later, and especially sooner what with the economic/financial crises, someone screws up or flakes out and loses/owes a large sum of money, pissing off the wrong people.

The expat business-owner invariably gets most of the blame and ends up skipping town or with a bullet in his head if he delays. That's true in Colombia but also in many other parts of the developing (and developed!) world where expats and foreigners try to do business.

That's NOT to say that Mora deserved his fate, but the dangers that the average gringo monger faces is probably just robbery from his chica or a street punk, he's not there long enough to get blackmailed or extorted or scammed out of his business/money.

I think most people are not too concerned about the gringo corrupting the "sanctity" of the colombiana, lol! :) But I do agree about keeping a low-profile although in Cartagena, it doesn't matter because it's a tourist trap even for the Colombians.

Even in today's economy, you can still have fun. Just keep a low profile and don't stay anywhere too fancy in Cali or bring a lot of valuables, just some daily cash and an old or second-hand laptop will do you just fine.

In fact, I would say today's world economic situation is bringing a fresh new supply of women into the P4P arena, so there's opportunity for mongers who are still employed and have some cash. ;)

By the way, the owner of Fase II in Medellin was also recently killed and that guy was 100% colombiano, lived and worked in Colombia all his life. This kind of stuff is still more likely to happen to a local than to an expat.

In all of South America, these places were set up by the locals for the locals.
Foreigners maybe go there 1% of the time.

The most I have paid for an all nighter is 200, 000 pesos. Looking at the websites you provided you will be grossley overpaying. I can not post pics of some of the girls because they would not want me to but I can tell you they are gorgeous women (20. 25 yrs). If you can speak the language and have a good sense of humor/personality you should do fine without an agency.

Best places to go are some of the casas like Dr. Amor if you see something you like, talk to her and tell her your intentions. Tell her what you are willling to pay or better yet, ask her what she would want for all night? Again, Once you build a quick rapport and offer her propina she will want you to stay with her. Some of these girls (and I mean the good looking ones) may make only 80, 000 for a day. Sometimes less when it is early in the week.

Hi, I stay and work near the Avenida Sexta Norte. It's been a wonderful place for everything. Eat, Drinks, Dance, Watching soccer, Mongering. Wow great place to stay in Cali I suppose.

There are lot of street walkers (girls, eununchs) in the Streets. Right from Calle 16 to Calle 25. More in the dark places and near the traffic signals.

Girls in Lo Maximo are great and they have good attitudes. But I do not find better girls in Club Social. The girls in Club Social grab you before you grab them.

The street walkers charge around 30K-50K for one hour before 2 am. On one Saturday night at 3 am I had one girl for 50K for three hours to my apartment. Had a pretty good service including Anal.

But I have a doubt about how safe is to take those girls. Will they have their medical checkups done frequently or better to avoid them?
