You should be tested for HIV after six to twelve weeks after the sex act. That is when there is a detectable level of HIV anti bodies.
There are three kinds of HIV tests. The antibody test, the antigen test and the DNA or RNA test.
If you are negative at three months after initial exposure, there is little likelihood of getting infected.
