But only two people per room are allowed and up to 3 in a suite. If you decide on a threesome, they might charge you for the third person.

(Unless the policy has changed since I last stayed there.)

Not a true Fairmont, however, since it was originally an Accor Hotel, but after Accor bought out Fairmont corporate re-christened the hotel a Fairmont. Not a big deal, but if you ever stayed at a real Fairmont you would quickly notice the difference. Anyway, it is pretty good and it was girl friendly when I stayed there in April. That's why I am going to stay there again in November.
But if money is no object stay at the Fasano. It is located across from Ipanema which is a better beach IMHO, and not far form Copa, but the main reason for my recommendation is that this small boutique hotel is a true 5 star with very well appointed deluxe rooms facing the beach, a great restaurant, pool, and it was girl friendly when I stayed there. It's only negative is beaucoup bucks.

I trade off and stay at 2 different Marriott Executive Apartment Hotels in BKK, the Park Exec Marriott on Soi 24 and the Thonglor Marriot Exec on Soi 57. I have brought back multiple girls many times, 3 girls was my max, a menage a quatro, and no one at the hotel batted an eye.
So why are Rio Hotels so conservative?

I suspect Rio hotels (and Colombia's too for that matter) just see it as an opportunity to charge extra. I mean they're more than willing to brush aside their righteousness for the right price, LOL.

Do you have the right papers for the right jurisdiction at the right time? To answer your question, I do not have papers and currently it's not a big deal. I can't go to the cinema now, but pretty much everything else is fine. You might have issues with the Christ statue and Sugar Loaf mountain but I can't confirm. I've been to both 4 x 4 and Solarium this week and these places don't require papers so you can rest easy.
This covid thing is killing me. I have a few Brazilian clients and they're all very relaxed, which led me to find out that Brazil is actually open to tourism. God bless this country.
