What I did was just like you kept phone on airplane mood, reduce the brightness & run the recording app. Normal phn app cannot run when phn is locked but there are apps where you can continue recording while phone is locked so no 1 notice that you are recording. So I have hanged my clothes on there cloth racks & put the phn on pocket keeping camera out focusing the needed area & put anther cloth on top covering a bit of phn but camera is not fully covered. From my Galaxy I get full HD videos with size of around 2 gb per 30 min so you can imagine the quality. Can use night vision as well. I just did it to re watch & enjoy but later stop doing it knwing the risk involved. In those videos clearly I'm also visible so its a huge risk keeping those videos so I stopped doing it.
