Salambo is owned by a German, and is the only place on WS that serves good German beers both in bottle and on tap. A full pint of Paulaner is 300 pesos, but worth every drop, and so much better than the horse p_i_s_s called SML. The girls there are nothing to shout about honestly, I just got lucky with a really good looking waitress.

Legwork is really the secret to success in AC. And it has to be done everyday. Just because a bar was empty yesterday does not mean it will be empty today. And vice-versa. Case in point is Babydolls on Perimeter. Or Atlantis on WS. Clearly the K-oriented bars are less tightly run, while the Western managed bars are run efficiently. QBar is a good example. Girls don't get WiFi, girls do not have access to their phones while on the floor, or stage or with customers, waitresses cannot sit on chairs or sofas even if the bar is empty, girls get a 10 minute break every 2 hours, etc. Yes, the waitresses and girls hate the manager, but it works brilliantly for customers, like it should.

I have always said this, AC has nice girls who will show you a good time, all you need to do is show them a little empathy and treat them nicely. Start with food, offer them some food. Don't say no if they ask if they can take home the toiletries in your bathroom. If they want a can of coke from your minibar don't say no, but also firmly say. Just one, ok?! Sit and talk to them, waste that 15 minutes of your life in listening to mindless stories of not having enough water to wash clothes on their days off. It all pays back in spades. It always has for me. And tip them well, 200 pesos means nothing for you if you stay at Lewis Grand or ABC. It means the world to the girl.

The aircon is good, the place is not stuffy, the pool table is good, they have a smoking area behind the dancing stage and the waitresses are friendly. The girls, sadly are well over the hill, although one can find the odd diamond in the rough here. I have never barfined here in all these years but I always stop by for a drink and a game of pool.

All the girls who I picked at night stayed well into the day (closer to noon), absolutely no hassles about performance or time and made no demands for tips, only graciously accepted what I gave them. The afternoon picks stayed for a good 3-4 hours, never once complaining about the time or number of pops.

Ate at Patchawaran (now called Patches) twice, once at Yu Fu In, and brought in Delio's Chicken Line twice. Rest from hotel room service. AC is still a great place to have fun if you don't mind the legwork and if you are not stuck up. The successful girls generate repeat business, large tips, and are in high demand. They can make $5,000/ month or more from hooking out of a bar. Sadly, many AC bar girls barely make enough, especially in low season, to meet their expenses. Have you ever visited one of the dormitories where some of these girls live? 20 girls in a room with 1 fan & 1 window? I have. It is very depressing. So it makes absolutely no sense, as Blanquiceleste posted and as it has been observed by many others on these boards and elsewhere, that some "girls in some of the K-oriented bars give zero fucks about customers in the bar. They are sitting on the stage, some even lying down, all of them on their phones." So, I agree with the observation and the logic that criticizes it because I have seen it in certain AC bars and because I have very rarely seen that behavior elsewhere. My conclusion is that I think it's pretty stupid and counterproductive behavior on the part of the girls. I also think it is a sign of a very badly run business to allow their girls (employees) to act in such a childish, foolish way merely because the girls don't know any better. It is just bad business practice if the purpose of running a business is to maximize profits. It is also very counterproductive behavior for the girls to engage in. Yeah, I get it; they are bored and they don't like their job. So What!

By comparison just head over to Burgos Street or the EDSA Entertainment Complex in MNL to see how well trained, more sophisticated, professional, big city girls conduct themselves under proper management and with the right attitude. You will see that what Blanquiceleste and I are talking about is a rather unique situation that has developed slowly over time in a number of AC Bars that are run by a specific ethnic group and seem to cater solely to that same ethnic group almost exclusively. If some of these ethnic customer types like it this way, then I say they can have it. HA HA. Incidentally, I don't think very highly about many of the Koreans I see. Many are fools. In any case, this leaves the nicer, friendlier, let's get it on girls for me to choose from in the better bars in AC and MNL where I and other discerning mongers of any nationality including Koreans prefer to spend our time & money. I don't think we disagree on most points. I think its sucks as much as you. But its pretty clear to me. Koreans are the top tier choice for these girls.

I guess they don't agree with you that servicing all potential customers equally is a good business strategy. Theres a factors at play here and I've written about it in the past. Koreans have a reputation for paying well and not having much sex. Their caucasian counterparts have the opposite reputation, they want to have a lot of sex and tend to be cheap. That's one issue. The other issue is that Koreans are racist in general. They consider themselves above others generally and don't want others spoiling their women and thus managers may discourage the girls from going with any other races. I'm not saying this happens at all the bars by all the managers. But that's the general idea.

I'm not saying that I like any of this. To me the korean invasion was the start of the downfall of angeles for me, but I still have a good time, I just don't barfine all that often and less likely so from korean oriented bars, even though I sometimes pass for korean.

The difference in attitude between Makati / Burgos is stark, but so is the difference in price. I'm more of a cheapie charlie myself, so I haven't been there in a while, but from what I've been readin on the boards, its somewhere around 3 k to the bar and 3 k to the girl in Burgos. I imagine if you walked into any of the bars and declared you were willing to part with 6 k for a girl, you'd get quite a bit of attentiveness. To be honest, if I had money I wouldn't go to angeles, I'd stay in Makati too and pull girls from Burgos. I don't think anyone of us is in Angeles for the culture of Clark Airfield Base or Walking street. Cheap barfines. That's what I'm there for.

5. Korean restaurants opening instead of bars. Sometimes I feel like for every 2 bars that close, 1 korean restaurant opens. I rarely see new bars open, just close and name changes every few years.

[/QUOTE]I agree with you that some girls have these stereotypes in mind and more importantly certain bars encourage this racial thinking, but what I am saying is that the smart girls know the truth that some Koreans can have a large dicks and last 60 minutes and some Westerners can have small dicks and last 3 minutes. A smart hooker knows that the only thing that matters is money. So if a lone Anglo customer walks into a Perimeter bar in the afternoon, a smart girl will get off her ass and focus her attentions on him. Time is money and a Farang bird in the hand is worth more than 2 Korean birds in the bush.

I also agree with your observation that some Koreans are racist. Some are pigs IMHO. Ha Ha. But the same goes for Farangs. I have been in plenty of bars and bordellos all over SE Asia where a truce is in effect and all groups can come to find the girls that they like, party, drink, and the girls do not discriminate because money is what counts. I guess the key to this is having the right kind of management.

Good points # 1, 2, 3, & 5. There is nothing we can do about #6 and I have gotten so use to #4 hearing lousy music in honky tonks that I no longer pay attention to it. Korean food IS pretty good, but I prefer Thai, Indonesian, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine. LOL. Some Korean girls are very attractive too. I have had the pleasure of doing a few in Macau.
