Surprising news? Today in the Bangkok Post, the PM declare Section 44 on Entertainment areas like Walking St. Nana, Soi Cowboy that all open venues like Beer Bars etc. Bands, disco must turn down the volume or play exclusively local music after Midnight since non Thai music is distasteful and causes excessive drinking results in bad behavior depleting police resources and give LOS a bad name.
What is happening, first no dart games and now this what is next? Time to bolt?

There is a new club at the old Marilyn Monroe which was up for sale the place is now called Maxim Grand Opening with a fresh pig being roasted for customer. Without a lot of customers the price of the coke was worth it since I got a nice big plate of freshly slice pig skin I was surprise of the amount and slip the waitress 100 baht. With that much crackling pig skin (cholesterol) I told the waitress dump the coke and get me a Sangsom over the rocks to wash it down.
The space has always been a bit tough for a Go Go, use to be a Italian restaurant so it is very narrow and long. If you make a visit make sure you try to sit in the middle. There are two stages with a small break in the middle. The place is so long when you walk in most of the girls not dancing are sitting on the right across from the bar. If the place ever take off and these are the only seats it will be impossible to view the stages. All seem to be agency / model types no topless or nudity they are dressed in pink bulky type bikini style. Not many were my type but nothing to sneeze at while eating my pork skin I spoke to the waitress, LD are 150,1000 BF for ST, 1500 for LT, blond ladyboy mamasan said for me special offer she / he was free tonight.
There were lots of girls vs customer for the Grand opener but a few look a bit familiar which got me thinking is that why Eden was closed, same owner? Or did Eden closed to let Maxim borrow the girls?

A few days ago there was report about a british guy who after he returned home from an unspecified place in SEA was diagnosed with drug resistant gonorrhoea, means no antibiotic available to treat it, this might concern other STD's too. This could become a major disaster, easier to transmit then HIV. Any specialist around to comment?

When you say keep it 100 for those out of touch with the new terms it means let just speak honestly. Let's not pretend or be politically correct. Just speak the truth. Well we all know the music that some older men absolutely hate is hip hop. Not sure why, but again let's keep it 100. Why people hate a music genre that young chicks love to dance too makes no sense to me, but I have some very bad news for some of you all that hate that music. Hip Hop last year surpassed Rock & Roll as the most listened too, downloaded and bought music on spotify around the world. Get very scared it is growing more popular each year. Now in life, things change even though some fight it. I can think of slavery hiding behind states right and segregation to name a few.
What I do not understand why be so miserable in life that you cannot walk in to bar before hearing the music. Your life is passing you by and not in a good way. You do not see it. Especially, when hip hop is a very embracing music and art form. Hip Hop does not care if you are black, white, yellow Brown, pink, straight, gay, fat old, ugly, handsome, etc. In fact, do you know what makes young chicks go crazy for an older man and you get total respect from around the club is an older man that can dance to hip hop. The crowd will go crazy and show you respect and love. To me the worse thing that can happen to you as you get older is become set in your ways and not wanting to embrace change. I know I refuse to go out that way.

I don't see an assertion in either of those reports that there is "no antibiotic available to treat it". It is characterized as a drug resistant gonorrhea, which would literally mean at least one of the two commonly used drug treatments already on the market to cure gonorrhea did not cure it. It is reported in the first link below that they are waiting to see if a third antibiotic drug cures it by the end of March and in the second link below that it was "susceptible" to that third antibiotic treatment already on the market.

LP.[/QUOTE]I'm definitely not an expert, but in a study from 2000 ([URL]https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10907913[/URL]), 16% of male clients of some brothel were positive of gonorrhea; 26% were positive of one of the three STDs diagnosed. A study from 2007 showed that over 20% of woman sex workers had HIV ([URL]https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4935540/[/URL]). It really is a no-brainer: USE CONDOMS!

If someone doesn't like a certain kind of music and wants to move, why would you care. I don't care if you want to avoid what annoys you. And it isn't hip hop that bothers me. It is that dance music that isn't music but just some dance thing without a melody or (I don't know how to describe it). Its loud, hard to talk over and repetitive. Maybe its old age but I don't think so. On job sites here in usa you can go where someone is playing mexican polka music loudly. Ive always hated that. If music doesn't affect your emotions then I thinkbjt is you that is missing out.
I don't understand why anyone would care if some internet stranger walks out of a bar because he doesn't like the music.

I went to Maxim as well as one of my girls decided to give it a try. Walked in and recognized many of the girls from various gogo bars. I didn't recognize any D Club girls. I counted over 50 girls but since it's such a large club the place always seems empty. I assume you didn't actually buy a LD because the waitress was incorrect. LD are 200 baht there. Other than my friend there was one other nice girl there. Rest were not great and a few Marilyn Monroe girls. As LBM mentioned, the very generous serving of roasted pork was good. I wish this club the best but 200 baht drinks for average girls is a recipe for disaster imo.
Since the big topic right now appears to be music, wanted to point out if you are opposed to nightclub volume dance and Thai music, don't even think about coming here. Personally I love this style of music and the louder the better if the sound system is good, which it is at Maxim.

I will listen to Rock and Roll and Classic Rock sometimes as the music formats have something to offer in their own unique way but I am hip hop! If I am going to sit in a spot and catch a good vibe then Hip Hop music is what I want to hear and will seek out. Just like some on here are products of the Classic Rock and Rock and Roll generations or whatever format is their choice, I am a product of the Hip Hop generation (going all the way back to Sugar Hill Gang on through today). It's my thing and what I want for me.
You are right about these young chicks and hip hop. If you can move to hip hop and are into urban culture then you get crazy respect from these young chicks and their interest in you goes way up. I experienced it in Thailand and have experienced it in the Philippines, Singapore, Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil, Australia, and Germany, and that shit is just a given here in the USA and the Caribbean. And, I can't wait to get to Japan. My experiences are that it does make a huge difference. These young chicks are into urban culture and Hip Hop music.
I should have ended my previous post with I have no more to discuss on this topic with someone who has no effect on how I live my life, what I do and think, will not change a thing, and who I do not care to waste my time or energy engaging in a keyboard fight.

But in the body of the report we find out they are talking about something much narrower than that; they are talking about self-identified FSW (Female Sex Worker) non-venue based freelancers in Bangkok. And the report itself points out and references studies indicating potential predictable problems with their chosen survey method here, (RDS) respondent-driven sampling. That is a form of chain-referral sampling (sometimes known as snowball sampling) and convenience-sampling, which is generally regarded as a bad way to take a survey verses simple random sampling, which is generally regarded as a good way to take a survey.
In RDS surveys, such as this one, the scenario goes something like this; the pollster encounters an HIV-positive subject as the result of offering money to take the survey, an offer to provide free of charge medical treatment for her illness and to pay her more money for every new respondent she can recruit to take the same survey along with the same offer of money to that new recruit for taking the survey as well as more money to her for recruiting more respondents and so on.
That is a very convenient way for the pollsters to "find" what they're looking for but not nearly as accurately informative for anyone caring about the poll results as more commonly used survey methods would provide. Here is why; as one might easily predict, the paid and commission-incentive"ized" subjects will primarily recruit their close circle of friends and relatives (they certainly aren't going to roam the streets, tapping on shoulders and conducting their own labor-intensive form of simple random sampling survey), for all we know people who are already part of an HIV-positive or drug addiction related group, bring them back to the pollster on the promise that they will also get paid, given free of charge medical treatment and sent out with an incentive to earn commissions for every new respondent they recruit for the pollster and on and on it goes. IMO, that is why they got such an "unexpectedly high" (I would say incredibly high, as in not credible) percentage of respondents who tested positive for HIV eleven years ago.
Moreover, unless I missed it, I did not see an assurance in that report that the HIV-positive respondents they were counting acquired HIV through sex rather than through needles or that the respondents were even asked if they also engaged in needle-related drug use. So if the pollster lets it be known that he wants to survey, pay and "hire" for future ongoing commissions only FSW, you can pretty much bet big money every girl who walks into that pollster's office will say she is a Female Sex Worker. And, also conveniently, since this was a survey of only non-venue based freelancers, the pollsters only have the word of the respondents themselves to verify that they really do work in the P4P business (more than, say, once in a great while) with no mamasan, bar owner, co-workers, pay stubs or regular salary income records to corroborate or deny it.
I'm not saying there weren't some HIV-positive freelancers working somewhere in Bangkok back in 2007 or that the number and percentage was very tiny. But I would be much more startled by that "more than 20%" result if they came to it from a simple random sampling survey of the freelancers lined up on lower Sukhumvit, in Patpong and around the Democracy Monument area near Khaosan Road. And it would be even more startling if it was a survey result from a simple random sampling of ALL P4P girls in Thailand, venue based included, as one might erroneously conclude from the headline. But that isn't what this kind of RDS methodology survey is telling us or could reasonably be expected to tell us.
