I stand by my assertion that local food is much safer to eat than foreign but obviously if you do have a tender stomach or are new to travelling then take appropriate precautions. True Gastro maladies can indeed be holiday ending, or worse.

I've been using colloidal silver to sanitize water, cutlery etc. Have a read up on it, there isn't a single cell organism that can survive contact with it. HIV included. If you are unlucky enough to have a dose of sickness and shits then avoid eating and only sip on fluids. Also try using high quality probiotics any time you have loose stools, a couple of capsules should have you back to regular, maybe a couple of days of use if it's more severe. Some people are lucky enough to have cast iron stomachs and can eat anything without the unpleasantries, I'm not so lucky so I try to cover all bases.

I'm sure the Viagra and kamagra exacerbates the symptoms, too.

Of course I didn't realize that at the time. During my time in Africa I, together with the rest of my colleagues, got it frequently, and we learned to travel with multiple full-cycle Cipro treatments, which cleared up the problems pretty quickly. When I did get amoebic dysentery here, I (and my doctor) knew exactly what to do, and. I got the correct antibiotic quickly and was cured quickly.

I can't speak to the sanitation standards of other places, but here in Davao, the Department of Health seems to take its inspection role pretty seriously. We own a "Western" restaurant, and we do get inspected. We also maintain the place to Western health standards, and we're meticulous in reaching and monitoring our employees. I have Western friends who also own European restaurants here, and their hygiene standards are also high.

In almost every country I visited And had street food I had gotten sick. Even in advanced countries. Sometimes it is just the dust flown around by breeze.

It is always better to sit in air con restaurants and eat.

Regarding where its safe to eat. I eat at foreign owned Restaurants, on the presumption, fingers and legs crossed, that the owner will respect western hygiene standards. Consequently, when in Angeles, I eat at Margarita Station, and Kokomo's (british owned and managed). Decor at Margarita leaves a lot to be desired, but then I do not want to eat the decor. Slow serving / wait, but worth it.

You can expect Filipino owned Restaurants to be guided by Filipino standards of hygiene for their Filipino customers. Exceptions prevail, eg Lighthouse in Cebu. Great place for seafood. Personal opinion only, of course.

I'm never that hungry, that I east pussy, except if the 'target' is fresh and 'unused'. Hard, if not impossible to find, in the Philippines.

It comes as a simple solution based on ppm (parts per million) and is used topically on the skin, in the eyes, ears or can be ingested. It's even safe to use on your pets. I can attest to its anti-bacterial and healing properties, I use for any cuts and grazes and my wounds have never gotten infected and heal much faster. A friend of mine who lives in HCMC has had repeated cases of athletes foot, the humidity and heat makes it worse and regular off the shelf creams haven't been working. He's 3 days into using colloidal silver I gave him before I left Vietnam and he's reporting a major reduction of infection to the point where it is almost gone. I've also instructed him to spray the solution in his shoes and flip flops to kill off any bacteria, pleased that he's reported that his once 'funky' shoes are now neutral smelling. I've also used it on mould prone areas around the house and guess what, no more mould. Sore throat or bad breath? Gargle with the silver solution and it will clear right up.

All my findings are anecdotal so take of it what you will. The fact that scientists are yet to find any single celled organism that can survive contact with colloidal silver speaks volumes for me, that goes for viral, bacterial and fungal. Of course you're going to find lots of discrediting info out there. Your skin turning blue being one of them. The best thing is to do some research and try for yourself, I certainly would not be recommending it if my findings were not so resoundingly positive.
